2018 Nurburgring 24 Hours
Me and some friends will be visiting Germany this year for the Nurburgring 24 and so I have some general questions for those who have been before:
1. What are the best sites to watch the cars on track?
2. What are the best sites to drink beer/party?
I’ve got access to the Grandstand/pits etc at the Strecke however I would also like to experience the more ‘raw’ atmosphere in the hills of the Eiffel region. (Albeit I’ve booked an AirBnB instead of a tent).
P.S. I’ve been to the Ring before (for the 2015 AVD Oldtimers Event - which was awesome) and so am relatively familiar with the area. Your recommendations are welcome!

I went over last summer for a weekend (just a normal tourist track day), there's a massive viewing area with on and off road parking. If I remember correctly you come out of the main car park entrance (where you go to drive around the track) and take the first exit at the roundabout and drive about a 2 miles down the road, you can't miss several viewing areas. Great atmosphere, just got to hope for good weather as it would be muddy on a wet day.
Once I remember the name of this section of the track I'll update this post
No idea about drinking beer in the area, we drove off and went to Spa in Belgium at the end of the day.

Thanks for your post and nice pic but I think those viewing areas are cordoned off by the stewards during the Nurburgring 24.
Apparently you need camping tickets (even if you’re not camping) to enter but would like someone to confirm this?
My experience of one of the viewing areas in 2015.

The area is called,
You could also try an area of the track called Pflanzgarten. Just a wide path very close to the track and a great view up the hill. There were a couple of food stalls can't imagine there will be any camping.
Here is a pic of the view i had. Was fantastic weather.

Looks good pal. Did you have to pay entry or could you just walk in?LordOxygen wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2018 8:11 amThe area is called, Screenshot_2018-02-03-07-03-29.png

2018 Nurburgring 24 Hours
Quick query:
I’m looking to do a bit of TF on Tuesday 15 May after the Nurburgring 24H.
My initial plan was to do 3 laps at the Nordschleife (which I’ve done before). However I checked nuerburgring.de this morning and noticed that the GP Strecke is also open on 15 May.
The Nordschleife is open from 17.30 - 19:30 and the GP Strecke is open from 18:00 - 20:00. I’ve never driven the GP Strecke nor have I done an evening TF session. So my question is:
Would I be able to fit 2 laps of the Nschleife and a 15 min stint of the GP Strecke within that timeframe? Or should I just stick to 3 laps of the Nschleife and do the GP Strecke another time?
[When I went in 2015 there were queues to get on the Nschleife (albeit I was early) - so I’m concerned about whether I can fit it all in, when taking into consideration the waiting time and letting the car cool off also.]

You’ve got 2 hours to do either/both. I think that should be plenty of time.
3 x slow Ring laps = 30 minutes.
1 x GP session = 15 minutes.
Sounds like you either need to do more Ring laps, or more GP sessions.
Be warned though, the track may not open if the weather’s poor, or there’s a need to do a major repair.
