AK Automotive Rowlands Gill for 4 wheel alignment

Post by paulgs1000 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 8:30 pm

Had a recommendation form Grumybri after being unconvinced by an alignment done in March at another place (I had the Zeds alignment done before the Wales run and was never happy with the result). Got an appointment at AK Automotives and took the Zed down there this morning - 'Dan' sorted me out.

AK Automotive are an MX5 specialist race business but they were very friendly and helpful, took me through all the possible set ups according to how I wanted the Zed and made lots of adjustments live on the computer screen. Very interesting seeing how basic the adjustment methods are to get to the preferred settings - weight added to the car as well.

The whole process gives me lots of confidence in the work and so far (only driven home on a very wet day) - it is far more planted and neutral after feeling too frisky at the front - it felt like the steering was too aggressive and then the back wheels followed after the turn - quite unsettling and Dan immediately explained how this had come about and how he would dial it out. Looking forward to a dry day and a proper trial.

I was there an hour and a half and he made many adjustments as well as explaining the set up to me - charged £75 which I thought was excellent. (I'd paid £120 at previous place and never even got a print out)
