No, it's fuel used linked to mileage lol.
Well after recent thread

Hi guys. I know this has been done to death, and I haven’t posted anything interesting on here in a year (s) :tumbleweed: but ...

I’m confused. Servicing dept says she’s due ins 2, which is what I thought. But having read loads on here, I’m wondering if it is an oil change instead and perhaps mine has been over service before and in my care.

I’ve done 2k since the oil service last year, 6k since insp 1 2 years ago.

Soooo ... insp 2 plus brake fluid, or oil change plus brake fluid.

Unless you’re doing interim oil changes in addition to the BMW schedule then you aren’t due a service until either the service indicator is displayed or until October 2018. Unless you’ve had the car constantly on a race track in the last year then the service indicator isn’t going to show after only 2000 miles since your last oil service.

As far as I'm aware
It's inps1 oil oil inspec2 oil oil inpsc1 and so on

As that's how mine is and I do oil, diff and box myself as well in between

Just had my inpsc 1 plus plugs and clearances all done and all good
£700 all in from Bmw

In short they are charging you for insps it doesn't need

You only need an oil service plus brake fluid. Oil and brake needs to be done every 2 years as a minimum to meet service schedule. Inspection 1 and 2 are mileage/condition based.

I only do 2k per year on average so will have additional oil services otherwise I’ll be having inspection services every 8k. An additional oil service would take me to approx 12k which is still half of what a inspection service would be done it based in mileage/condition only.

The 56k oil change was really "interim" Tom , nice to have the stamp but sometimes best left out of the book to avoid this confusion ( though made a note of )
Then around 64k oil service with stamp then another interim around 70k not stamped followed by Ins2 around 76k .

Technically the inspection 1 was done a year early. Be interesting to know why that was. Maybe part of the purchase agreement. Hadn't looked at the pics before posting this morning I have to confess.

Glad I found this thread as I'm in the same predicament, the dash display says I have 8k miles to Insp 1, however I have only covered 6k miles since my inspection 3.5 years ago. I believe when I had an oil service at the main dealer nearly 2 years ago (time not distance) they reset the service counter which advanced it on to Inspection 1 from oil service.

Basically if the car is on short mileage and getting time based oil and brake fluid changes every two years it would seem that they should not reset the counter otherwise you wont know when the next inspection is truly due.

So am i right in thinking that I just need another oil and brake fluid change and to run the counter down more before the next proper inspection with valve adjustment?

To further complicate I change the oil and filter myself every year with a vacuum pump, this is purely to get another stamp in the book for the vehicles history, shall get rear brakes renewed at the same time.

The time based oil changes should definitely not have the service counter reset, but should still be recorded in the service book.

This, but you can work out pretty well when it will be due. Roughly 26k between Inspection services.
