997 turbo is lovely , the interior is looking so so old and dated... the z4ms with certina trims looks so much better ( worse quality however lol) but i think the z4m will always look pretty timeless inside as its very basic..... the ergonomics on the z4 is bang on imo, no clutter, awesome steering wheel, and compact.

Now.... personally i think some well chosen upgrades on the z4m is the way to go... the s54 is just something we wont be seeing again unless its in a car we cant afford, tweak the brakes, and suspension, add a carbon airbox , and enjoy one of the best kept secrets in the past decade. The z4 platform is just so good... i love this car. never selling. EVER.

Some upgrades - the E83 X3 Radio button, the M2/ZHP gearstick, new steering wheel, new carpets - it could've been released today!

Watched a Porc 911R review yesterday, and it struck me the Z4M Coupe is a similar car. Basic, analogue, beautiful. :)

Yes, S54 is such a great engine, even compared to Porsche flat 6 engines. 6-times International Engine of the Year Award, an awesome engine.

I agree with the analogue aspect of the car. Porsche has identified this as well with the Cayman GT4 and 911R being manual and the M2 having the manual gearbox option.

But combined with the S54 NA engine it's a legend really and just surprising its such a well kept secret. Too many reviews when new that said the Cayman S was a smoother, 'better' car, which is probably true for most people certainly as a daily driver but for the smaller group of real enthusiasts it's the character that wins and the whole experience being more than the sum of it's parts.

I'm thinking I will keep the Z4M now and do some minor mods on brakes such as braided hoses and upgraded fluid and pads.

The 911 I could go for as a daily driver and for that I would drop from the GTS to a C2S as the mileage I'm doing is quite high.

I'll be honest not read any replies yet as doing paperwork and shouldn't be on;)
Me, keep the car you obviously love
HP the 911 keep it for a year and hand it back:)
Best of both worlds

The 911 gts is still stunning car, it's miles better than the Z4M
If money isn't the problem, buy it
If it is, keep the z4m and enjoy something which is superb value and the last of the classic BMW's

This has been my dimemma for the last 12 months. I have a choice between paying off my mortgage and keeping the M Or buying a GT4.

I was probably set on letting the M go a couple of weeks ago but after taking her for an oil service last week, there is no way I can let her go. I had a 15 mile drive back home in cold / icy conditions but she is such a hoot. I have a feeling that this will be the car I will always look back on as being the best value for the money.

GT4 prices may still be on the decline slightly but I doubt they will go backwards for long. Still, at over £80K, how much more fun could it be on UK roads? I have even looked at a Cayman GTS, 997 GTS or even a C2S manual but you are still talking 3 times the price.

H.

With the low miles you have on the Z4M it could probably appreciate in value by keeping it in the garage, take it out for a run now and then :driving: :driving:

I bought a cayenne diesel for day to day and kept the z'd to have some fun. The z'd won't lose money so keep it ... putting loads of miles on a new 911 might not be the best of ideas though
