A quick update - last night I went to Donington park for an evening trackday - my good friend Jimbo was there with his Lotus Elise (Series 1 with S2 suspension, owned from new - 18 years!!) and he managed to get some great footage of us heading around the track - I was amazed that basically the Elise and the Z are on par with each other in the terms of lap time - I'm faster on the straights, but the Lotus' ability to change direction is AMAZING, especially as this car is running sticky tyres.

All in all, great fun and as a Z should be used! :evil:

Enjoy - there's a near miss at around 5 mins - we arrived at the scene of the spin exactly as it happened! :o

Good stuff, nice lines too, you did well to make the same sort of lap time and you are the first to encounter traffic which always slows the lead car. What sort of spec is the S1 aside from its track tyres and S2 suspension? Guessing it's still got a K series of some description?

No one was more surprised than me honestly - Jim knows his Elise sooooo well and has really excellent car control so the first time we went out I thought he was just being kind letting me lead to get some Go Pro footage.. :oops: Turns out he was trying hard to keep up which firstly makes all the mods worthwhile and also great great fun with someone I trust.

The Elise is running a K series with 118hp - it's one of the very first cars so only 725kg - compared to 1400kg for the M coupe, you can see why direction change is a bit more sluggish! Great fun though and really predictable, especially with M Track mode - I tried the sport button but turned that off before the second corner - the standard throttle map is sooooo much better for modulating any understeer.. :driving:

Just for the record, I'm running Michelin PSS tyres on 224s, AP brakes at the front, AP calipers at the rear, Bilstein B10 suspension, H&R anti roll bars, rear bush limiters and uprated engine mounts. Engine is standard.... Although I'd love to try a CSL intake (with Alpha N) and get some brake ducting sorted so I think there's a couple of projects to come!! :D

By far the best mod I've done! Fan-blooming-tastic... :D

So good in fact that some race cars at the event were rather shocked at my braking points.. :evil:

I've said it before and ill say it again, the only brakes I've actually experienced that matched them for out and out stopping power was PCCB. They are incredible and severely overkill for the 1400kg z4m. lol!! They can EASILY take 500hp worth of punish all day without breaking a sweat. They are probably one of the most commented about parts of my car after passenger rides. which is impressive considering the monumental performance of the thing.

A very quick update - my steering wheel was looking very tired so I've treated the car to a refurb'd wheel from Royal Steering Wheels:

oh yes thats lovely, and REALLY gives the z4 the interior it deserves !! looks so class!!

those seats?? what are they again and are they touching anywhere???? the top bolster appears to be rubbing away unless its a camera trick?? a real shame on these gorgeous seats if thats the case.

The seats are Recaro SPG retrimmed in BMW Nappa leather. Thankfully, it's a trick of the camera - the door does foul the seat shoulders everso slightly, so to help with that, I have put a piece of self adhesive Velcro (fuzzy side) on to the door trim at the right place - the foam underneath the leather on the seat squashes, but it doesn't rub thankfully... :D

The pedals are a standard brake and clutch with an Alpina/Hartge throttle pedal from (I think) M Sport or CA International - just to bring the throttle pedal higher to help me heel and toe a bit easier (and it works a treat!!)

The steering wheel is £150 exchange from Royal Steering Wheels - leather or alcantara, with or without the yellow stripe (the stripe can be any colour actually) - I've been really impressed with it so far and the service from them was great. The switches are *a lot* from a dealer - the switches and trims being more pricey than the steering wheel... :cry:

The whole lot including the wheel was about £400 but I'm a fussy so and so... :thumbsup:

Happy with the interior now so just need to sort wheels (I'm sorely tempted by CSLs - I know, boring and predictable but they look soooooo good!) and a carbon intake.

I need to start saving again... :oops:

A loooooooooooooooooong overdue update! I've been away working quite a bit since my last update and enjoying my Z in between - a good few mods have been done and I'm still loving my Z. :thumbsup:

The first is an obvious one - CSL alloys. These are the real deal. Genuine wheels from the dealer. I went round and round on wheel options and landed on these. Predictable? Yes. But lovely...
