Great video mate! I thought the difference would be more pronounced to be honest... Is there some sort of volume normalising going on?

Cheers mate! No normalising at all, recorded at the same set input levels too, I manually set the input level to get a fair comparisonga41 wrote:Great video mate! I thought the difference would be more pronounced to be honest... Is there some sort of volume normalising going on?
Tbh, it's not that much louder than stock, it just has a different noise to it and the growl at 3-4k revs is what makes it seem more beastly.
The real gains are in performance, can tell straight away, improved throttle response is definitely there and the entire rev range is indeed smoothed out a lot more. Rev matching when down and up shifting is a lot smoother too.

Sounds like a net gain then, despite the less than expected volume (for me at least). I mean with the amount of exhaust volume my RPI's produce I've not actually heard my engine note in years!

Haha 1:28 horsing it past the rozzers.
I know this isn't a helpful contribution, but I have the Eventuri fitted and the noise is much different to what I heard in that video, it's much more pronounced and noticeable in real life. Especially when you get past 4k revs, the noise definitely tails off a bit but not to the point where you can't hear it which is kinda what it sounds like in the video there.

Nice video!
We did some recording with a mic under the bonnet at Bruntingthorpe a few weeks ago - although there is a difference in sound it's very different to the sound you hear in the cabin. The harmonics and frequency levels are different under the bonnet to what you actually hear inside the car - basically the difference is much more pronounced in the cabin.
Our Bruntingthorpe session was setup to compare 2 standard M3's with and without the Eventuri. Unfortunately we were not able to race them side by side but we got some very consistent results. Between 60-120mph both M3's with the Eventuri were at least 0.5 seconds faster than when they had the standard airbox. At that speed, 0.5 seconds is pretty significant and in a race/track situation will make a healthy difference.
We have setup another test day at Bruntingthorpe in a couple of weeks where this time we will be able to race the 2 cars side by side - before and after the Eventuri system. We will be recording the event and taking plenty of sound recordings from inside the cabin.

I'm no engineer, but i find it interesting something relatively simple (by bmw standards.... i would have hoped) could make a noticable difference to that extent, not having a dig i think the piece of kit looks awesome, just a little surprised, happy to take part in some standard vs eventuri speed tests, i may just buy one if there's a performance gain.

You have to remember that OEM manufacturers have many regulations they need to design their components to - such as emissions, noise and serviceability. We are not restrained by these regulations - in fact we want more noise!!Viren wrote:I'm no engineer, but i find it interesting something relatively simple (by bmw standards.... i would have hoped) could make a noticable difference to that extent, not having a dig i think the piece of kit looks awesome, just a little surprised, happy to take part in some standard vs eventuri speed tests, i may just buy one if there's a performance gain.
Although our system does look simple - it is in fact very unique and as such we have a Patent Pending on the design. Here is a snapshot of how our system differs to the usual aftermarket intake:
In short: We use a cone filter - BUT here it is inverted and decoupled from the MAF tube. The filter is now mated to the front of the carbon housing and by inverting it we are capturing maximum surface area for incoming airflow. Now, the carbon housing is not merely a heat shield - it shapes the flow smoothly down to the MAF tube over the entire distance of the housing. This means that we keep laminar conditions through the path into the MAF tube which is a lot more efficient. Basically the ENTIRE housing acts as a velocity stack. On the road - this translates not only to more power but smoother delivery and a sharper throttle response.

I installed my eventuri last night but I think i damaged the MAF in the excitement, the idle was terrible but i disconnected it and it ran fine, then took it for a little spin and the noise is great.
Anyone else had a MAF problem? Just curious

Fitted mine today and am well impressed after a breif 30 min test drive.
Shame they didn't come sounding like this from the factory.
Fitting was quite straight forward, hardest part was fitting the scoop, very little room in there.
Hopefully the weather will be decent next Sunday and I'll be able to take it for a longer test run to Howarth and back.

Congrats on the new intake ...........Is the sound change noticeable at idle ?DPG wrote:Fitted mine today and am well impressed after a breif 30 min test drive.

I would be interested if there is only a subtle difference during urban driving conditions and then gets progressively louder when the revs are applied.

Nothing at idle or up to 3k. Then it just comes alive.
