I’ve had a few thumbs up from other drivers who know what they are looking at in the 2 months I’ve had it

Yes, a few times now, but its always from ex-owners that reminisce on their ownership and finish by saying “dont ever sell it”!

I had the exact same thing on the m5 a few years ago. Probably the same guy ! He at first wasn’t so impressed that he couldn’t catch up to record my speed, but it was gone midnight and he did quickly calm downmmm-five wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 4:55 pmYes, every time I get stopped for speeding
Used to happen in the M5 too. You'd have a stern talking to, and a ticket (about every 10th stop), and they'd comment on it being a 'lovely car' as the walked back to their 5 series (it always seems to be a velour-lined 5-series).
He had a snoop around the car to look at it, rather than inspect it. Then let me on my way.

I've never had any comments in London, except a drunk tramp saying that the car should have been his

I got pulled over numerous times as a 'quick check' mostly because the coppers wanted to have a look round the car because its an interesting and probably nothing better to do. Possibly because I was young at the time, either way its annoying but nice for the car to be appreciated.

On the way to Le Mans one year we were pulled aside coming off the ferry. The gendarme fella asked us to wind down the window, stuck his head in and said "BMW Z4M 343 brake horsepower! Allez!!!". The French definitely have their moments.tomscott wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 10:38 am I got pulled over numerous times as a 'quick check' mostly because the coppers wanted to have a look round the car because its an interesting and probably nothing better to do. Well unfortunately I have left the club.
I had given myself another year to see if it worked for me from my last toe dip in a sale. The brutal reality with 3 of us it wasn’t getting used at all. And much as an appreciating car was nice to have. The monthly outgoings are still high on an ornament.
What I wasn’t expecting was it being chopped in.
LT07XXN 6 owners, 39k carbon black/black/carbon leather.
With a WBAC price of around £16k, a bmw direct buy of £18k and a px of £18k. Synter actually ended up at £20.5k on a px. Yes I could have possibly got a little more but was aiming at £22k private and the difference did seem to be worth the agro. Plus something I wanted came up so she went yesterday.
Will see if it crops up... damn will miss that engine.

It sounds like you got a decent value, with no hassle out of it! But you’re right, they’re not cheap ornaments to runDablk wrote: ↑Sat Oct 06, 2018 7:41 am Well unfortunately I have left the club.

TBH, I think that's a decent part ex-value and certainly worth avoiding the zombies who want the car for nothing. I'm guessing they'll retail it at £25k and see if they can flip it. What did you buy in the part ex then?

Interesting post and close to home for me. Had mine since 2010 but usage dropped dramatically when I had my first child and now I’m 8 months in to being a father of 2 I recon I’ve done less than 1000 miles so far this year.Dablk wrote: ↑Sat Oct 06, 2018 7:41 am Well unfortunately I have left the club.

Lucky enough to have use of a second garage for the Z, but can’t help thinking I’d be better off with an E92 M3 or C63 to make weekly use more likelt. 2 seats with 1 child gets some use, but with 2 it’s much less likely. 911 looks good on paper but doesn’t get me excited for some reason. E46 M3 rust concerns me.
Good to hear that values are reasonable. Mine is a 2 owner car (inc me) with just over 30k on it. That said, private sales seem to be painful these days so trade in to a specialty may be the way forward for me.

Yep on the PX, I had zero expectation of them getting anywhere near an acceptable figure. Took about an hour of bouncing a couple of dealerships bidding on the car and it finally crept up.
I couldn’t face m3/c63 bills so got an old man VW hot hatch with a dull turbo engine which in fairness just goes about its busisness, adaptive suspension for she who must be obeyed and 4 doors.. still it’s lots of fun to chuck about.. defiantly no s54 though.
