This is true... But for someone just looking to get in with an M but with not too much outlay, with the right history it should be ok. For £11k or £11.5k it sounds like a good deal? I wouldn't necessarily shy away because of the miles. Its not really high at 90k for these cars' ages.
Those CSLs look ace.

I've seen this On a trip home last summer - needs a damn good clean (beige interior) and I think it needs new rear discs. Didn't drive it bit I have to admit to being a little underwhelmed when I saw it however, doesn't mean it's a bad car by any means!
It could be had for 11k cash I reckon.

Yeah there and OZ are a bloody nightmare for catching you speeding. Bloody police hide behind trees to catch you in OZ. I was caught and fined 5 times, and banned for a month once when I was Backpacking.DevonPaul wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 10:31 amYebbut the police over there have forward facing radar.
Well, the one on the road from Takaka to Motueka did, I thought he was wagging his finger at me to slow down. 20 min later whilst having a rest at a viewing stop I was surprised to find he wanted me to stop. To be fair I was on a bike and passing a logging truck when he saw me, so he would have got held up a bit.

AndyBeech, Everything from engine innards, ancillaries, suspension, braking system, drivelines to seats have all covered 90k, a lot of use, a lot of wear and tear, thus repair/replacement costs - big bills. Wouldn't it'be better to put a couple of thou more into a lower mileage one? There's a 60k one on Autotrader for £2k+ more.

@Beemingallover:
Agreed . I got a '56 MR at 47.5k miles for £16.5k in September last year.
I would pay that little extra as these parts will need repairing/replacing around the 100k mark. A lower mileage will give you the time to gradually do this before the miles get so high.
For someone experienced and looking for a 'keeper' project, get this for a steal then over time build it up, it might be ideal.

Possibly, there’s no guarantee that lower mileage will equal less bills though, a higher mileage car might have had a lot of stuff you mention done already. Higher mileage on these are fine if looked after correctly same as lower mileage can be a money pit if not.Beemingallover wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 11:56 am AndyBeech, Everything from engine innards, ancillaries, suspension, braking system, drivelines to seats have all covered 90k, a lot of use, a lot of wear and tear, thus repair/replacement costs - big bills. AndyBeech, what do you use for engine clean/sparkle? Mine's clean but not that good.

This is what did with mine despite several well intentioned members saying steer clear. Some say shells between 60 - 100k so there's a grand before you start if you take forum advice. As has already been mentioned low mileage is no guarentee of trouble free motoring. Also many have said the S54 is bullet proof (if well serviced) so by that reasoning there should be a decent car there to be had. Obviously if it's been thrashed you can't say but low mileage cars can be as equally thrashed. It's only a mileage difference on most cars and not an age thing.Papa_Zee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 12:34 pm @Beemingallover:

This means Ms (Esp the Coupe) are indeed creeping up. You will be hard pressed to find any sub £20k now never mind £15k!

Erm, think it’s the Autoglym vinyl and rubber care one. About once a month or so makes it nice and shiny!Beemingallover wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 5:09 pm AndyBeech, what do you use for engine clean/sparkle? Mine's clean but not that good.
