Excellent work, much better than mine, it's a real tricky business getting the boot to fit the Z's frame, I worked it too loosely.

I used contact cement and pulled the boot down onto the plastic frame until if fit well and cut off the excess leather. I used a heat gun to remove the Z4 boot without damaging it.Beedub wrote:pungo!!! very very neat job, did you do anything different??
Thanks, I think you left too much leather and should have pulled the boot down on the plastic fame further. What I noticed is the stitching is opposite front(F10) vs back(Z4). The frame has an indent for the stitching which didn't match since the indent is at the back and the F10 stitching is toward the front. I should have ground down the plastic frame a little for the stitching and filled the back where the indent is. I didn't really notice the purpose of the indent until I was almost done.Ninarvana wrote:Excellent work, much better than mine, it's a real tricky business getting the boot to fit the Z's frame, I worked it too loosely.
The leather on the F10 is much nicer and the added weight feels great when shifting. Highly recommended mod.
You can see the indent in the Z4 frame here:

I like my stock one. It's just I'm a bit of a magpie so anything shiny and new gets my vote

Sorry to bump this guys - I've just ordered one
The question is, I'm happy to just stick with the OEM leather gaitor. Can I just pull my F10 gear knob off the supplied gaitor? Noted in Nina's post she's said this might be possible but just wanted to be 100%!

I can't see why they couldn't be separated, but I'm guessing you will have to cut the leather.JAD wrote:Sorry to bump this guys - I've just ordered one

Buy the modded ZHP then like I have, just plug and play. Only issue is not sure if the guy selling them on eBay has anymore
