Is everyone using the Bosch S5 Premium, or are there less expensive equivalents?
Also, I'm seeing mixed views regarding the necessity of an alternator reset after battery replacement for the 2006 Z4MRs... insights please, if anyone is willing to share.
Thanks.

Battery for 2006 Z4M
When the battery died on my previous 3.0Si my Indy replaced it with an Exide, as he said that is what it had from new. Which makes sense when it was built in NC!
So when I needed one for my MC this year I bought an Exide 096. The new battery didn't need any sort of coding after fitting.

Bosch S3 or S4 range will be more than adequate.

You don’t need to recode/register the battery, nor do you need an expensive stop-start AGM battery.
A Bosch, Exide, or Varta of the right type (096) will do fine, and ensure they have similar performance to the OE battery (around 70+ah, 700+CCA). The variations (e.g. S3, S4, S5, Excel, Premium, Blue, Silver, etc.) are usually just a bit more power and longer warranty.
You can get a Bosch S4 at EuroCarParts for £99 with their latest TOUR60 discount code, or the S5 for £132. The Exide are cheaper and the Varta in the middle.
