How do you value a Z4MR with 20k miles but no service history?

I’ve been out to one and it’s only got running in and oil change in the book.

I’d be more concerned if it had 120k on the clock & no service history, the low mileage means it should be ok so I’d go by condition.

What MOT history has it got, ie has it actually moved every year?

MOT history is really good. Done a steady 1600 miles a year average. Only one fail and no advisories.

Your initial reactions have given me a little hope. I really want it to work out.

On that basis it should have had an oil service every two years as a minimum. If you get it I’d put it through an inspection 2 as it’s at 13-16 years old. Mine does a couple of k per year so very similar usage. I have oil service every 2 years and inspection 2 every 8 years. So basically I have an inspection 2 service every 16k ish which is just over the mileage between one service interval.

Service history is pretty much meaningless other than helping you to sell it on in the future. It could have full history but still be a complete wreck, and vice versa.

As above, get an inspection and buy on condition. You can also try contacting BMW who may have additional records of services - I once bought a Golf with no history and sold it on with genuine full VW service history, you don't need to rely on a book these days. What story is there for no history? Does it seem plausible? Should be able to get it cheaper without the history too
