Forum seems pretty dead on here the last few weeks but thought I'd ask anyway.....
Is the z4m power steering pump unique to this car? I thought it might of been same as e46 but appears not to be.
New one from BMW Is just over £500 and any car parts supplier can't get an aftermarket one.
Basically once the car warms up, I'm getting constant grinding noise when driving along, same sound like as if it has no steering fluid, however I done a fluid change the other week and it doesnt seem to be losing any.

Yep they are Z4M specific. You could see if a power steering specialist could remanufacture it I guess.

Have you taken it to a specialist to get diagnosed or just a hunch?MichaelK wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 7:24 pm Forum seems pretty dead on here the last few weeks but thought I'd ask anyway.....

If not do so, seriously unless you 100% know what it is.
Throwing money / parts at what you think is / are problems is the quickest way to burn money on these cars! Find out for sure and go from there.
OEM pump is made by ZF. A quick look on Autodoc and you can get a remanufactured one for around £300 long as you send your old one back to them. Or you can go an alternative make for cheaper (£200) but you'd have to do your own research to decide whether it's sensible to do so. That pump isn't a common failure.
