It discharges all the stored energy in the various ECU's dotted around the car. Kind of like a master reset.

Obviously make sure you have disconnected them from the battery before shorting!!!!

You need to forget that battery - you will never recover it in terms of capacity even if you do manage to charge it successfully. I'm assuming the shorting battery cables trick didn't work with the Scooby battery?

The Scooby battery is still connected, had to go to work yesterday so didn’t have time, the bm battery is charging down at the local garage so when I get it back I’ll put the two cables together and hope my hair doesn’t stand up then I’ll put the fully charged battery in and see wot happens

:| ..time to start looking at those fuses I guess. If you really do have no voltage at all on the jump points under the bonnet, I'm struggling to think what else it could be.

It's worth checking the BST (battery safety terminal). It's a small module which sits on the positive battery cable? It's function is to pyrotechnically disconnect the battery from the car systems in the event of a crash. See here....

Have a look at this Youtube link (you might want to skip straight to the 2 min point!)... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c26Jq1O1m0M

You can push a needle or a pin into the positive battery lead (through the insulation into the copper) a few inches down from the battery terminal, then see if there is continuity between the terminal and the pin.

Right ,all done something simple as I expected, all my fault which I’ll explain later so here goes
One of the leads that go on the fuse box which has the 250 A fuse fell down the side when I took the battery off and I didn’t notice it hence the reason no power after the battery,Now it is dark out in the garage as no power and the reason I didn’t notice is 8 years ago I lost my sight in one eye and I struggle working on things close up and sometimes I don’t notice things that are close up or in front of me,the arguments I’ve had trying to explain to the missus wots it’s like is a joke, until you have a disability you don’t know wot it’s like,it’s only a minor one compared to some people so I just get on with it like most,so yes I did laugh my nuts off and thanks guys for all your Imput,All sorted and I’ll take it off of sorn probably next month and get out more in it,
