Check engine light

Post by lewis_jennings » Mon Aug 31, 2020 11:23 pm

Hi guys,

I have a question here for someone smarter than myself.

Couple of weeks ago i had a warning light come on on my car. Scanned the ecu with obd and the following codes appeared.
First codes

Didnt think too much of it and drove it until my mechanic could have a look. I figured a faulty o2 senser. As the car felt basically fine. Just cleared the code everytime it popped up to keep an eye on it. Mechanic figured the same and put new o2 senser in.

Then when i got the car home another check engine light. Naturally nothing is ever simple
Attached is second warning light. Mechanic said he has never seen it before. And i cant seem to get any info of it online. Is there anyone that knows what this is or what it could be! Im at a loss and would be greatly appreciated. Car is demuffled if that makes any difference

Check engine light

If the sensor is new then it’s likely a problem upstream of the sensor. So during throttle off operation there’s an air / fuel mixture outside the range it’s expecting. Could be a number things, air / vacuum leak, injector stuck open, throttle body issue, however if this wasn’t an issue before the sensor was replaced then....is the sensor genuine Bosch if it’s a new one?
I’d also suggest getting some BMW diagnostics on there (INPA / ISTA / DIS), might give you a more in depth clue...
