A big issue for me with most track days is that they frown upon loud cars and you get black flagged for going sideways! Track days seem to be a bit of a fun sponge to me with too many rules and regulations.

Compared to what?

Get caught doing the same on the road and you'd probably get worse than 'frowned upon' :P

But I've definitely spent more times sideways on the public road than I have on the track, as I don't do track days to go sideways (unless I've been caught out with a slippy surface - but you could say the same about any piece of tarmac) - I try to keep 'sideways' action until I'm on an airfield day with a set of tyres I'm trying to kill (see exhibit A).

Image

I'm not trying to say one is better than the other, as I enjoy fast road driving and beautiful countryside as much as track driving - but I won't go anywhere near 10/10ths on the road (unless Guiseley is chasing me in his latest purchase  )...and with the Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia within about an hour's drive I'd be stupid to limit myself to track driving.

Try never let ego outstrip ability!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

But you have to push the limit sometimes...otherwise you may never get near the real extremes of your ability.
