Yes you just have to cut the pins down a bit or remove them.

I cut mine down around 4mm

Thanks looking at you photo the end ring of the brace is sitting proud of the wheel arch metalwork dose the ring sit on top of the existing nut securing the suspendsion leg to the wheel - arch and then
secured with another nut on the exposed thread of the suspension leg.

As on a C70 T5 R I owned you unfastened and removed the nuts securing the strut leg in place and the brace sat directly on the sheet metal of the wheel arch metal work.
Thanks for your help so far.

Regards

It’s proud as that is the design of the brace. It has three raised pads where it connects to the top mount.

You will need the correct nuts for the brace which are longer than standard with collar.

Additional gain is that it re-inforces the notorious weak BMW strut towers..

Hi

On fitting the E46 M3 brace do you still need to cut down the pins on the strut legs that pierce through the strut towers . Alternatively drill a small recces in the brace end fixing rings to suit ? Is there not the required recess already in the fixing rings.

I cut mine down with a junior hack saw on the car I masked the area off with duck tape so as not to scratch the paint, But have since unscrewed them on another car there appear to have an allen key hex in them.

I would not choice to drill a hole in the mounting ring of the strut brace just in case you sell it on to a 3 series owner (larger market)

As above, they have a head on them either Allen or hex I can't remember it was years ago.

You can then push the top mounts all the way in if you want, gives a nice bit of camber.

Will need tracking after as the toe will be out mind
