In 2016 I bought a "manual" M2 with the same reason as you described. Then in 2018 after owning my Z4M + M2 together for two years I sold my Z4M after 8 years of ownership and kept my M2 (daily + fun + track).

As a sidenote; my girlfriend also used my Z4M....but when she ordered a Alpine A110 there was almost no reason anymore to keep my Z4M. It's gone but not forgotten and the only car that can really replace the Z4M in every aspect for me is a 981 GT4 :)

I'd agree with that, pretty much the only thing that that could be as like for like replacement with a Z4M would be a 981 GT4. They ain't cheap though.

Loving the M2C and can't wait to get the RIS complete (Friday!)

Initially felt like I was sitting on top of the car as the seats feel pretty high. But they are pretty comfy

I wanted manual seats in my M2 (same as in my Z4M) so that the seating position was a low as possible with oem seats. Indeed you do sit higher and initially I also felt sitting on top of the car...but in time you get used to this. For support on street, track and longer journeys the M2 seats are way better then the Z4M seats.

Agreed. Post RIS the M2 is effortlessly ballistic! only had one opportunity to open her up but the Audi TT was left pretty much for dead.

I'm hoping that as the engine loosens up the economy improves as it feels worse than the Zed! not helped by a tiny tank.

My experience so far....

Chassis is pretty incredible, it really isn't that far away from the Cayman S I test drove (say 80% as good) which considering its a front engine \ RWD platform vs a mid engine car is pretty impressive.

Engine is crazy strong but it isn't anywhere as nice as the S54 (don't tell SWMBO) on the few occasions I've had to rev it out it's felt a bit workman like, nothing wrong with it at all, it just doesn't seem particularly special but I think that's FI vs NA engines full stop and a sign of the times. In it's defence there is very little turbo lag.

Went out indoor skiing with a mate and the boot was useful so on a practicality front it's win win.

I'll have to try it Sport Plus mode and see if it sounds any better.

Cheers T1b

True; the standard chassis and grip of my N55 M2 is better then my Z4M with Bilstein PSS-10...

Turbo engine is ok, but nothing that special like a S54...the S54 is so epic when revving it on track.

The M2 is a perfect do it all car, practical, fast, comfort, excitement + fun on street & track!

Never liked the sound of the M3/M4/M2 comp with the S55 engine...the N55 M2 sounds way better (standard exhaust on mine). But it's not a massive problem in my opinion.
