Dreadful to see this Alex. As others have said, as long as you are fine.

Wrong colour, but our 2007 Z4MR will also be up for sale soon. 45k miles. FSH (BMW and Specialist) and totally original. Photo taken after being ceramic coated 2 yrs back

Hi Alex,

Mine will be going up for sale soon and will be available from late July. Spec as per my signature and car is on 64k at the moment. Will hardly increase given my annual mileage is 2.5k.

Let me know if of interest.

Like the fact that we are all jumping on your misfortune to maybe sell our cars

I'm surprised they're not breaking it, as the engine would get them about £4k alone...although maybe they realised their potential audience is a bit smaller than they thought as it's not 'just an M3 S54 engine' :)

Wonder how much they'd want for a gearbox, as mine's still the original one :P

Is there much demand for these engines?

For the M3 variant...yes...either for track builds, or for donor engines when the rod bearings/vanos/valves let go.

Some breakers don't know that there are differences between the M3 and Z4 versions though, and price both about the same.

You can use either in either car, but you'll need to change over (or buy) some bits from the donor engine...so you might as well go for the 'correct' engine if you can find one.

I've seen them for sale from £2k for a 150,000 mile one (with no history)...to £7k for a 30k mile one (don't know if either of those actually sold for that though).

Carbon trim leather seats csl reps with tyres if no damage plus the engine loads of good bits worth registering to buy the car for spares at that price.

That’s good to know
I never realised there was any difference between our engine and the M3.

What are the differences apart from the DME?
Z4MR - Gruppe M, Bilstein PSS10, CSL's + 18" CSL reps with semi's, RTAB Limiters, Powerflex’d, PF Camber Arms, K-Sport BBK / RSL-29, GC Camber Plates, Strut Brace, Exhaust valves, custom brake cooling, complete underside refresh!

Don’t think the actual block/short engine is any different, it’s the ancillaries where the swapping/buying expense comes in.

But from memory - and besides the MSS70 DME & engine wiring harness - exhaust manifolds, sump, oil level sensor, dipstick guide tube, water pump, secondary air pump, oil cooler, coolant expansion tank, pusher fan, airbox, ...erm...

Cat S means it could actually be repaired and stuck back on the road or still broken for spares.

Just seen this too. Someone should snap it up for spares at that price. Looks like the interior has picked up a few marks from storage, but it's still in great condition.
