How much is it worth?

Post by mj2k » Sat Mar 23, 2019 6:03 pm

Considering the possibility of selling the Z4M, since getting the M4 as my daily I’ve been less rushed to get it MOT’d and un-SORN’d as still not booked it in. Feels a little strange having a slower weekend summer toy, albeit much more old school NA engine etc. Funds would most likely go to upgrading the wife’s car from an E89 to a Boxster.

I’ve only covered 1,600 miles max in the last 2 years from memory, so not a regular occurrence.

Car is silver & has (from memory) covered c25k miles, and was registered 19th July 2007 (my birthday odly enough!) Has full BMW history, I purchased with 7k on it 4yrs ago, it had not done many miles as was part of a collection. I put it through a full INS2 when purchased, it has then been serviced with annual oil changes (BMW one year, then me ‘inbetween’ before back to BMW etc.)

It has the upgraded hifi, nav, wind blocker & the usual heated seats, parking sensors etc. Had new MPSS tyres put on 1k miles ago, so all good there. One alloy needs a refurb, all centre caps were changed last year.

I would post photos, but it is tucked up under its indoor cover at the moment.

Keen to gain a view on its value, no doubt it will go up The months and years after I sell it!! But I will have a happy wife lol.

Cheers

Matt

Looking at previous silver Z4m roadsters sold with similar spec they have gone between £12k and £15k though yours only has 25000miles I’d say it derserves a premium. I’d like to think £17k would be your very top though this is dependant on condition. Also things like individual or rarer interior colour may help. GLWTS and nice one on the shiny exhaust tips!

On a side note, if the M4 more fun? It’s what I’m probably going to get next.

Thanks

Standard black interior alas, would have loved another amarone one! I’m very keen on shiny exhausts, the one thing I hate with the M4 as they’re black!

Weirdly I’d say too much power for the road. Compared to my JCW which I felt I could wring the neck of, I just can’t on the road with the 4.

It is stupidly fast, and does seem to whisper ‘I’m going to kill you’ if you drive like an idiot. The sheer pace though is just astounding & far too easy to get speed up, won’t working it like you have to in the Z4M.

Let’s just say on a private driveway, 3 figure speeds felt like 60leptons composure wise.

Can always change tips on the exhaust. I get the amarone been quoted £1200- £2600 to change door card centres and seats amarone or tan. Just too much.

My coupe was stratus and amarone. I’d have loved the Z4MR in that colour, and would have been over the moon if the M4 was in that combo too

Having spent some time being a little sad, I’ve plotted all the ones currently for sale, looking at price vs mileage, and I reckon you might be a little low there?

I know these haven’t sold yet, but seems interesting directionally.

You would be better off plotting what time of year, where sold etc, rather than folks projected values

It looks mint, I think mj2k is correct and the graph doesn't lie. Depends on how quick you want rid I suppose. Advertised is not always an indication of sale price. Yours is not an early car either by any means. But if it's still in the sort of nick your photos show and you can wait while a few wannabees come round, you should hold for a bit more than 17k. There is always a market for a minter. It's just needs the right buyer. Boxsters aint cheap and you'll want a good one.

I think a well kept , no work required 25k ZMR would fetch between £17500/£19500 .
Its ti silver + black , not the most glamorous of M colours ( i recently sold the very same but 68k for £13k) & daresay the same car in Imola would "fly away" around £20k
All you can do is list it , Pistonheads is £12 for 30 days so worth a toe in the water , id start £19750 but be prepared for very little interest , mine took 4 months with just 3 enquiries in that time but selling a car you only need 1 buyer

There isnt a rush to sell, so might as well find the right buyer & at a value we are both happy with. I was happy when I bought it to spend more for a low mileage one, and there will no doubt be someone else out there wanting to do the same. We can proceed with the wife's car whenever really, but I'd rather not have all the cash tied up in metal. Hear you on the ti silver, certainly not a forum favourite but was the colour I was actively looking for. Basically I need another me to come along and buy it from me!

Boxster prices are frankly scary, but with it being savings plus her Z and mine, it as least keeps me with a fun 2 seater to play in when I want to. Annoyingly, she wont put it in the garage and the M4 wont fit...so having cleared out (just) enough space and mounted everything on the walls, the garage will no doubt reverse back to a messy storage area rather than to keep a car in.

As you say, might as well put it up and see what happens, happy with a wait & as we get more into the summer I'm sure (hope!) demand will increase. There aren't all that many for sale presently, and clear advantages over those currently offerered. Realised I still have an MOT until mid April, but couldnt really justify taking it out Sunday or this weekend as will pay for a whole month of RFL for a few hours drive....
