New: Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport

Post by Gustavo7 » Fri Feb 08, 2019 5:09 pm

Goodyear has announced a new range of three Ultra Ultra High Performance (UUHP) tires, branded Eagle F1 SuperSport, SuperSport R and SuperSport RS. Goodyear's flagship performance tires, the SuperSport range, deploy innovative technologies and compounds that enable significant improvements to braking distances and lap times without neglecting more intangible elements of the driving experience, such as feedback during turn-in, under braking and approaching breakaway.

With the Michelin Pilot Supersports being discontinued, and with the new replacement (Pilot Sport 4S) not available in 18" sizes, it is with great enthusiasm that I see Goodyear releasing a new UUHP tyre - to compete with the Pilot Sport 4S - but with sizes starting from 18"!

Been considering stocking Pilot Supersports while they can still be found (currently being sold on a "while stock lasts" basis in some tyre places - mainly online), but no need to worry now: we will soon have a new UHHP tyre to wrap our OEM 18" wheels with. :driving:

For those doing track work, the R and RS versions also open up a few more possibilities. I personally have no experience with Goodyear, but it can only be good, right?

We're going to get confused when people say they're running on SuperSports :P

Just hope these new Goodyear UUHP tyres provide more miles than Continental's offerings.

The Conti equivalent (5P) performs as well as SuperSports but tend to last half as long, which makes them poor value for money.

Indeed, the Michelin Supersports are/were a very long lasting tyre. Goodyear will be hard pushed to beat that but really hope they pulled it off!
