It should be a pretty interesting day for me, being able to watch a video come together. Back when I was in 6th form in the late 90's, I did media-studies and even though I never went into a media profession, I still hold a good interest to filming and editing.

With my car being an E85 M, it should be easier for Joel to compare it to his E85 3.0 . I think it's always good when you have younger members of a car club/culture championing the brand/type of car you, yourself have a passion for. It was watching some of Joel's videos that helped make my mind up to get a Z4 and even though his channel is small, a good number of his subscribers now too, want to get themselves a Z4. I think having an RWD BMW as your first proper car, really helps make them a better driver in adverse conditions. I learnt to respect the road conditions pretty quickly in my old E30 318i 2 door in 2002-2003 , as if I got rough and aggressive with the throttle, the back end would soon overtake the front. It only took one spin at a roundabout (thankfully on empty roads) to scare me enough to stop driving like a total Bell*nd and take things easy in bad weather.

It was a fun day, he's a good lad. I let him have the car for about 4 hours. He was so happy to be able to record so much content with it.

I think the first one will be up this afternoon.

As a suggestion, maybe Joel should keep this going if forum any members would let him test their:
- E89, maybe a mid-range model followed by a stock 3.5is... & then a chipped one
- then any G29 member brave enough to let him borrow their new toy when it arrives

Least then you’d have a recent across the board test & he could share a final review of what was good & what could be better in each of the variants, suggesting which one would you should go for depending on wants

When I was chatting with him last weekend, I told him my reasons for letting him have access and the time needed to film with my "M".

I think it's really important to encourage and calibrate younger drivers who share the same love of cars as "we" (older drivers) do. When I was getting into E30's in my 20's, some of the older members were very supportive in helping me learn about the E30 and giving advice on getting things done. Without this encouragement, I don't think I would have managed to discover just how great it is to be part of a car club and never would have gone to shows and meets. This is something I ended up sharing with my own father and is one of our most loved father and son activities.

It's by helping younger drivers get into "our" car culture, that more cars will stay on the road and in years to come, more people will be keeping the demand and support for these cars/parts up enough, that we all benefit from it.

Later in the year, once the weather is good enough, I've said to Joel that I am ok with him doing some more videos, where he can have the roof down and really push the car better on the open road.

He's told me earlier this morning, that the first video will be going live at 5:30pm and another video with it, will go live on Saturday.

Here's the link to the first video Joel has put together with my E85 M. I'm pretty pleased with how well he captured the true colour of my Carbon Black, which has a lot of blue in it. Usually when I see picture etc of my car, the paintwork tends to come out pretty black.

I hope over the series of videos he is uploading with my car, it really helps some younger petrolheads choose a Z4 as their first proper sports car.

Great video, but the sport button has zero effect on the steering ;)

Yeah I did notice he said that. I did tell him that it's just the throttle response that changes. I think he was mixing it up with how it works with his 3.0
