Beautifully set crownwheel 8)

Is that 0.08mm backlash?

Not sure Liam, but it's within spec from the lsd manufacturer. I queried it too, as normally around 0.06 to around 0.03. but racingdiffs said that this was in spec for thier race LSD.

I'm pretty sure the M diffs are looser than most. Up to 0.15mm IIRC. I'm sure yours is bang-on.

Yeah hope it's fine, I feelt it when I try to turn it, there is a little give, but not much, I'd call it a millimetre. But it will loosen up some no doubt. Bolted her up today.. finally starting to get back together.. I need to remove the bump from the spring perch as the upper control arm will probably tough it other wise..

Have you considered running without a RARB Liam? I know a lot of the E46 M3's run without one in the Kumho championship.

When I measured the roll stiffness at work the stock RARB only added a 6N/mm increase in roll stiffness per corner. In your quest for weight loss it may be worth running without and making a small step increase in rear spring rate to compensate for this.

Interesting - thanks Jono. I have a 21mm RARB at the moment. Assuming I can get out for some pre-season testing I'll disconnect it and see what happens.

Ironically, I replaced the drop link bushes and painted the brackets over the weekend!

Nice, I fitted the H&R adjustable bars to mine in November (27mm front, 21mm rear). Currently have the rear disconnected and it drives really well, but the trackday I had booked at Cadwell was cancelled so sadly I haven't had chance to give it a proper test.

I plan to measure each position at work, including disconnected. So when I have the data I'll put together some graphs and upload them to my thread.

FWIW, the E46 M3 CSL uses a 30.8mm front ARB - and it's hollow!

Yup, just not the easiest item to get your hands on. I like having the adjustability available that the H&R offers also.

youll probably initially feel its easier to drive with the rear arb missing/un-attached, but that just means that your rear suspension isnt set up correctly. Alex has many posts in regards to this on the /other/ site. might be worthwhile reading up on that before dis-counting your rear ARB.

So you may be wondering why its been so quiet in here on the build and development front...

Well... pretty simple really.... :telloff:

Pretty much the Dubai Government came in and pad locked the compound where my car is being finished due to a dispute over land agreement between 2 locals... Thats 12 shops that were in the compound.. bang.. padlocked... no warning, no nothing.. just padlocked. People were escorted out, and just padlocked the whole joint. everything left inside... :!:

Yeah... my car included on the lift.... :x

That was 3 months ago... Its been one hellova battle since then to get my car back, and i have to say, pretty much without result, completely without result..

The guy who owns the shop (not the building, but the shop, powerless to do anything at all), absolutely devastated...

This really went on for 3 months.. anytime enquiry was made was just told to be patient.. that is all....

You can imagine how this went.... :headbang:

And the just a few days ago, out of the blue.... shop returned to the operator and we have access again... holy s**t!!!!

Yeah, its been a tough couple of months, thats fer sure...

however... I just wanna get my car finshed now, missed pretty much the complete winter, and end march its going to get hot again, gotta have shaken down the car before then...

spent the last few days pretty much living at the shop...
