Awesome read mate , just went through the whole thing . Was the gauges mount a custom made job ?

Ag, yep gauges console was custom made in fiberglass, then sanded, wet sanded and then painted. It was one of my fave bits about the car.

It won't be featured on the new build sadly enough.

Santa dropped of 2 new rear rims from Sportline. Flow formed lightweight track goodness.

Also removed the cruise control yesterday.

Yesterday's progress...

Cut open , painted and removed a lot of sparkly crap from the lights. Wet sanded the lens, sealed and lens curing atm. Will glue the whole thing back together next week.

Hatch removal today. Holy s**t This thing is bloody heavy!!

Installed this puppy!! Can lift the frame with my pinky.

And then left untill paint shop..

So light, I've had to remove one of the boot struts, otherwise you can't close the boot.

From our friendly neigbours across a few ponds...

This one is probably good to note. 3.8kgs including wrapping and cardboard. rear hatch window. original is close to 8kgs, (which is still very light, lighter than i would have thought as the frikking tail gate is really bloody heavy.) so this is less than half its weight when the cardboard/wrapping is removed.

Keen eyes might spot the pax side window slider lying on the lounge...

Did some work, that I've put off for a while as it sucks, but got stuck into it anyways. So the whole side combo set is now held on solidly by visibly only one bolt.. (there are 3 in actual fact, but only one visible) pretty darn chuffed with that.

Solid as a rock...

I wonder since that rear hatch swap, about the balance front/rear, have you checked it lately?
(And what is it as std..? I know BMW claim its 50/50 but I have a hard time believing it)

Thanks Arg, No idea at this stage about the balance, but it's gonna be light, that's fer sure.

Custom brake booster delete kit just arrived.

Note the different push rod.

Also just recieved my fully adjustable tie rods.

Hopefully piecing it together over the next 8 weeks.

New lightweight cabin blower just arrived. 235 CFM. 4 inch low noise. Gotta have something for screen de-misting. And a bit of airflow in the car will be most welcome.

...and there’s me thinking it was an electric supercharger from eBay/AliExpress

Oh, don't worry, it'll do dubble duty as that too.. just gotta install one of those truck gear splitter buttons like in mad Max.
