Quick not for those replacing the TPS in search of the resolution to the dipping revs when the clutch is depressed. Mine improved with the replacement of both TPS how there was still a slight dip. I cleaned the ICV tonight and it appears to be cured. The ICV looked clean when I looked at it however, when I rotated the rotating airflow director, it had a coating of coke. A good blast with some carb cleaner cleaned it up and the results are as stated.

Worth noting if you decide to do your own car.

102k mate. The way I see it is that if most sensors have been on since new, refreshing them won't hurt - 10/12 years is a long time. Factor that in with thousands of heat cycles, then they will slowly break down.

Im only asking because mine, at just 33k, does have some subtle but odd behaviour. Sometimes more noticeable than others. Theres a band between 2k and 2.7k rpm where if feels laggy, even lazy. Then above that rpm band sometimes it surges forward. More apparent in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears with mid to fully open throttle. I have been tempted to replace the TPS at the top front of the throttle valves. Also maybe the one by the actuator and while im there clean the ICV. However removing the inlet manifold seems a little daunting, with its weird jubbly clips.... i dont want to find myself regretting being too clever! (Not a first, mind you) :o

Did you reuse the 6 jubbly clips? Is it possible? Do you need some sort of special pliers or similar?

You can re-use the clips and all you need to remove them is a set of angled long nose pliers.

Thanks Simon. Appreciated.
It will have to be in the new year as my car is currently out of the road till the spring. While it's garaged I might gather up a bit of courage to tackle the job myself. In fairness it doesn't seem too difficult a job. we'll see
