Annual insurance charade
These insurance premiums are hurting my eyes...I'm getting rinsed significantly more than most who have commented so far.
I left Admiral in the end, I was often concerned about whether they would pay out in the event of a claim, I've got an agreed value on mine now so at least I know what the payout will be, I no longer have track cover included though...which given I don't track the Zed I guess is doesn't matter!

Just been through this with Admiral who have put my premiums up by 50%!
Ok, so we've gone from the 2003 1.6 Civic to the 2005 2.0 Golf after the Civic was written off whilst we were on holiday. Not our fault, third party admitted fault and I had a windscreen chip.
Apparently these now count towards my statistics. FFS!

I read that there are a large number claims caused by people hitting things when getting in or out of their garage, or from things falling off garage walls onto the car.Crazy Harry wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:53 am
Take it out of the garage! I was quoted less to keep one of mine on the drive than in the garage ... now how does that stack up?
I had an amazing renewal experience with the Discovery. Renewal quote from LV was £380. Went on to the Meercats and the lowest was £330 with......LV. Phoned them up and told them I wanted another quote to remove the "commuting" element of the cover, but to increase mileage from 8k to 10k. That, I was told, would be £410 !! Went through some kind of weird charade where nothing changed, except the final quote of..........£320.
Overall a result, but that's 40 minutes of my life I won't get back.

If they just increased mine by the RPi & nothing else changed, would just happily pay the premium.
However, every year they make me do the dance... & every year I end up paying roughly the same.
I think we’re the source of keeping people justifiably employed, .. so maybe there's some good in all of it

My call to Esure today lasted less than 30 seconds. They instantly had a lower price and I instantly had the renewal canceled.
£471 paid last year
£536 renewal offer
£492 magic lower price
£434 paid to admiral. (with 300 miles business use added)
29, 4k miles, 9yr ncb, no points, parked on drive.

The problem is that it's not just about cost - unless you never claim.
Had my screen changed two weeks ago. I guess I pay a little more for my Zed with Aviva than some of you do on your policies looking at the posts above - about £30/£40 and have been with them since the early 2000's. Told autoglass I wanted OEM screen and seal; they checked with Aviva who said yes - no stress just a few days longer to get the OEM parts.
I do call them at renewal time and ask why premiums have risen and they recalculate and arrive at a figure that's lower - and I know they payout.

The insurance charade is something we all have to get used to, loyalty is worth bugger all with these guys,
And as for why peoples premiums are so different, the stats these guys run to give you a quote, the usual postcode, then the type of car, then how old you are, how many in your area are stolen, how many claims per 100 cars they have, etc etc
Would someone get a lower quote if they parked it on their drive rather than in their garage,, yes if the insurance co data says that, they have only had one car in a hundred stolen off a drive, and 15 cars in a 100 claim off accidents involving getting the car in and out of the garage. they would

I'm with Admiral. Last year policy cost for all 3 cars was £673 (Z4 3.0, E320CDi and CRV), renewal comes through this morning at £722. I call and ask why it’s gone UP 8% given no claims, no changes in circumstance etc, they press a few buttons and suddenly instead of going UP 8%, it goes DOWN 14%. It’s now £590. If I’d done nothing, they’d have gotten £132 for nothing. Thieves.
FYI, my Zed costs as part of that is just £116.03 per year (with mods declared)
