Annual insurance charade

Post by Mad Professor » Tue Oct 02, 2018 2:43 pm

So as usual Admiral quoted me a renewal price for my multicar package -and as usual i say i'm leaving as its gone up by 20%
And then as if by magic they go away -probably have a cup of tea or a fag - and then come back with a revised discounted quote which is the same as last year
Why don't they just cut to the bottom line to save this waste of time
Anyway upshot my M came in @ £123 and my Suszuki swift all grip @ £123
So i'm quite pleased with that outcome despite this silly game

They do it simply because not enough people challenge it, so makes it worthwhile for them (much like spam emails).

Same old same old. They rely on people being lazy to make a stack of cash. Tried and tested in the industry I'm afraid. RAC / AA the same, energy companies the same, SKY / Virgin the same.

Only 20% they tried to increase our multicar policy by £450 to over £1k, nearly 40% more than the previous year. After the usual discussion and providing quotes from others i got it back down to practically the same as last year with both cars and drivers for around £600.

Yep, I can vouch for Admiral discounting renewals without exception, I've managed to get minimum 10% off every time.

Good thing is insurers now HAVE to put last year's premium on the renewal notice. So now you can see how much they're trying to rinse you for. They must hate that

Yes i also spotted the old vs new renewal price on the quote haha -so when they asked me how much i had been quoted elsewhere i just made up a number close to the old quote .
Then they gave me some BS about loyalty discounts on my legal protection . FFS -Why don't they just say no porblem well give it you for what it was last year as want your business and be done with it . And they had to send me an email to confirm the new price and change all the documents on line . Bonkers .

Happens to me every year with both cars and the house. This year I looked at my RAC Renewal properly and got a quote from the AA which was much cheaper - until the RAC agreed to beat it! :headbang:

And yes, £123 for an M seems like a bargain - I pay nearly 3 times that for my 3.0Si (with our forum recommended provider). :o
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Amazed at the premiums some pay.

Now 70 with max ncb, no points, garaged, 6k / annum , decent non city area / retired. Yet still I pay £350ish for a 35is (2016)

What am I doing wrong ?

Take it out of the garage! I was quoted less to keep one of mine on the drive than in the garage  ... now how does that stack up?
