Industry part ex price

Post by AldridgeZ4 » Tue Jul 31, 2018 3:33 pm

I looked at getting a M3 earlier this year and was offered £9500 on my 54k MR. I tried three difference dealers and got approximately the same offer. It was still under AUC warranty and had only done 3k miles since I bought it. I decided to keep it and in hindsight, think I had a lucky escape.
Now gone.......Z4MR. 2007. Boring silver.

For the last couple of days i have been looking into changing my Z4MR for either a M5 or RS4. So i test drove a number of vehicles, and decided the Audi was the one for me.
So whilst i was on the test drive the part exchange mangers of 3 dealerships, one Bmw, 2 Audi. My car is very clean, FBMWSH and a good spec less folding mirrors, 38500 miles
Bmw were the first to give me a price.......£10000. Was not happy, heard the explanation from the manager, but didn't sink in. Walked out
Popped over to Audi, test drove again. Manager looked over Autotrader and specialist dealers, more or less agreed with the price i wanted, but again the offer £10000. He told me this the dealer network price and it was capped at £10000, but said it couldn't be right and i have left it with him to ask why
I had inquired about a car at the other end of the country gave my car details to the dealer, this evening received an email with again £10000, subject to an appraisal and if the first 1000 mile service was carried out
So I'm asking you knowledgeable members, does any one know why its so low?

TIA
Chris

The problem is when it comes to px`ing at a main dealer is most wont go on with it. It will traded to a small indi who will be scared to go "into book" as he can’t afford to have circa £10k sat on his pitch.

With something like an M your always going to be best with a private sale, unless your dealing with myself

Or me, where I'd quite happily go with BCA price + £1. :D
