Strange Z4M crash...

Post by Franzino » Sun Jul 22, 2018 11:52 pm

What a weird crash, it's like he still had the throttle floored in the gravel also. I didn't see any brake lights. Normally you brake before the corner comes and then hit gas when you exit the corner.... So strange that when he went out the race track he still didn't brake. You would almost think that there was something technical wrong with his car (stuck throttle?).

Strange Z4M crash...

Maybe he just crapped himself so much that he couldn’t find the brake pedal, and then it was over.

Didn’t seem to be trying to slow it down at all, but rather drive through the gravel and back onto the track, but the extra steering input just speared him across the track instead.

I think he understeered into the gravel. That's a fairly steep hill just before the turn, so front is unloaded.

Not sure why he kept the throttle on though..?

Such a pity...

To make it even worse for the owner, it was a relatively low-mileage example - only done 47k - and was registered on 22 March 2006 so would have benefited from the lower road tax rate...

Still got an MOT until next April though....

Maybe he thought he could save it and just power through the gravel.

He needs to take it to the ZED SHED and let mike loose on it. He would have it back on the road within a week.

Nah man that looks like bad front end damage, plus the rear quarter got smashed too.

His chassis is probably bent up. Who knows if the engine is still intact.

Best to just write it off and get something else.

I feel for the owner.

But I just don’t understand why he got understeer on that bend? The line into the bend wasn’t far off the racing line...

It seems that Brünnchen just doesn’t like Imola Red Z4Ms

Right line, wrong entry speed, and then got his steering inputs way too late once he was in the gravel.

It was all over before he turned in. Corner entry was too fast, and he turned in too late, missed the apex and was understeering out. If he'd hit the brakes once on the gavel he'd have continued to understeer into the barrier. His best bet was exactly what he did, leave the throttle and brake alone and try and steer it out.
