Go with the new or stay with the old?
I've had my z4m coupe for 2 years and has 86000 miles. Its been very good with just some consumables replaced. I like to use it everyday covering about 25 miles on my daily commute half of it in traffic. Struggling to find a replacement. Thinking of changing it for one with 55k miles so I can continue to use it daily without worrying about mileage/value.
I've looked at a nice one which is an 08 silver grey, red seats, csls(replica). To change would be around £5k. Just seeing if you guys think its worth it. The one I looked seemed to have a lot of engine movement when revving which I could feel from the cabin. Would these be engine mounts?

5k punt on an unknown, stick with what you have - it is worth it for 31k less miles?

That seems crazy to me. If you're using a car as a daily you have to expect that you will be putting miles on it and thus the value will drop. Like Marlon says, why take a punt on a car that you don't know when you have one that I presume is mechanically known good condition?

I think I also viewed the car you’ve mentioned in your first post. Really good condition on the outside, but during the test drive all the engine lights came on, and the engine started to stutter. So decided against the purchase. Can you run a cheap second car? Keeping the Z as the weekend toy?

Spend a few k on a daily and spend a few k on upgrades/bringing back to standard any parts on your zedmc5 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 7:41 pm I've had my z4m coupe for 2 years and has 86000 miles. So 5k on a car you don't essentially know and what could have "issues" or stick with your daily driver that you do know and is a sorted car I don't think miles are a major issue on these as long as they are looked after - let's face it, at some point all Z's will have big'ish miles on at some point. Also I you are sticking with an M then why worry about the mileage. Use the 5k to get your car to where you want it to be.

Makes no sense. I commute 50 miles / day in mine. Bought with 83k miles on the clock, just ticked the 120000 mark this week.
I would not trade it for another one with half the miles if you asked me. Just drive it, use the 5 G's to go on a massive european roadtrip like I did a couple of years ago (done 5k miles in one summer alone), forget about the number on the odometer and be happy.

ok guys it is a big amount change for not much gain I suppose. Seems to be a big difference in prices between 80k miles and 50k miles.

I don’t think I need to repeat what’s been said above... however that engine movement could be to do with the mounts, but actually the mount plate on the engine itself, not the rubber mounts. At around 50k 3 of the 4 bolts on mine had backed out and sheared, and the engine dropped slightly onto the ARB. It’s a known issue and the sort of thing that if you don’t know about could cost a fortune. Mine was a one owner car with total forum provenance on 24k when I bought it. Keep yours, look after it. Oh, and have the engine mount plate bolts checked for torque at your next service

The Z4M is an old girl now.
As the model gets older, vehicle Mileage won’t mean s**t. It’s all in the maintenance records.
