I'm a VAG man

Post by Anakin » Sat Jun 16, 2018 12:15 am

When I first bought the Z4M lots of people wanted to know how it compared to my TT RS which is better, more fun to drive ?

Simple , the TT RS is a better daily driver. It's quicker a to b in any type of weather, no fuss quick as fu@k off the line torque all the way at all times and the noise ! It like half a lambo the 5 pot just ticks all the boxes.

The TT is clinical (idiot proof) the Z4 will bite you if you get it wrong. The S54 sounds amazing, not as good as the 2.5 5 pot though. Z4 is more fun to drive in nice conditions though.

If I could only have 1 car the TT would win, If I had to choose one of them as a 2nd Car the Z4M would be the one with out a doubt.

Interesting post :) my son has a TTRs ( tweaked to 430bhp) & i have a ZMR , your analogy is spot on id say , the RS is supercar fast & whilst many knock the VAG cars for lack of character this particular 2.5T set up in a car that is lighter than a ZM i find a perfect all rounder .
We're off out this weekend for some father / son tarmac bonding :driving: a little swap along the way but for those who haven't driven both the Z is no match for the TT in any department  the cabin , tech , torque ( & VED  ) from the Audi just blows away the old school S54

I do love the 2.5 5 pot.

I bet your lads TTRS is mega quick

Need to get mine remapped and I’ve already been in touch with Nige about a downpipe and sports cat.

The Q3RS should map up nicley :) I have a spare downpipe with the cat intack for mine, was going to gut it and use but I never really felt the need to go beyond stage 1.

Sounds like a fun Day Mr Wilks.

I think a TT RS is more a comparison to an E89 35is than to a Z4m. (especially when comparing roadsters)
Both in terms of age/car generation, as tech as weight etc.

This is true, but I don't own a E89 to compare it to. I was comparing my 2 Cars as some folks had asked which was "better" type questions.

2010 8J TT RS and a E85 ///M

Image

The New ones Map to 490 BHP and make mine look slow. Pretty sure they are not far off a 9 sec 1/4 mile with stage 2.

I could copy/paste your post for my old Fiat Coupe.

Actually, almost any car is a better everyday car than the Z4M. ;)

In the US tuner APR ran a RS3 1/4mile in 9.83.
But with some more upgrades than 'stage 2 (whatever that is  ):
APR ECU & TCU Upgrades with E85
TTE625 Drop-in Stock-Housing Turbo
Intake System
Straight-Pipe / Dump Tube Exhaust System
Intercooler System
Fueling System
18×8.5 Wheels
245x40R18 Hoosier Drag Radials
Seats Removed

Mind you, sub 10 is mclaren 720S territory! :o

Trap speed was 144.39 MPH! to put things into perspective: 0-145mph in about 10 flat!
'Normal fast' cars do 0-100 in 10s.
