Brake change and brake service
Just about to get pre-summer driving work done on the zed, looking to get brakes replaced and brake service. Ive stocked up on the discs and pads/clips over xmas.
Whats the going indie rate for brake service (supply/change fluid) and labour to fit new parts?
Cheers in advance.

Why not have a go at changing them yourself? I did mine a little while back and it was quite straight forward and actually quite fun to work on the car. Took about 2 hours to do the fronts.

Cheers guys, managed to stock up on the parts over the latter half of last year with the various europarts offers, with the exception of the sensors.
Interesting on labour pricing, had a couple of quotes ranging from £100+vat to £250+vat, I cant understand the variation, Im assuming its basically down to general indie vs bmw indie, brakes are brakes like any other component but not sure whether to splurge for the german biased indie for added reassurance... havent got a dealer price for comparison which Ill do in the morning
I wish I had the garage/tools/time/knowledge to do myself but have to rely on paid help at the moment.

£75 seems far too cheap.
That's basically like an hour and a halfs labour.
How much care goes in to changing stuff that quickly?

Realistically that's all it should take in a garage environment, i could do it in about two hours on a jack. Wheels off, calipers off, discs off, clean hub, discs on, swap pads, calipers on, pressure fluid bleed, wheels on.
I fear people expect things to take far longer than they do, that's certainly no guarantee of care.

They'll most likely offer you a quote price, which they'll honour if it does take that time. They'll also charge the same even if it takes less, on the flip side, if it goes over they'll probably charge extra. If they're quoting for more than 2 hours then I'd look elsewhere. I could probably go a wheel in under an hour (per side). Using "home" tools, not rushing and giving everything a good clean as I go.

Cheers, I wish I could do diy, but why is it so tough finding a good indie, its a fine line getting quality work at a reasonable cost which also shows some consideration when service history comes into play... but hey - first world problem in comparison to all the other s**t happening in the world

A quote is a quote, not an estimate, as long as you ask for that then they have to honour it.
I'd also not pay for more than 2 hours.
