ESS Supercharger differences
Someone is selling an ESS Supercharger kit VT2-500 already installed on his Z4M and I might be interested on that. I would like to know what are the differences between this kit and the ESS VT2-525? From my search I see that the VT2-500 kit is for M3 CSL however he has install in on a Z4M.

Thank you my friend for your quick reply. I guess the tune also should be completely different, right Beedub? But if I buy it used I have to contact ESS to send me new one so it won't make a difference for me. On the output of HP they make, do they have a difference?
Also do you know the difference of Generation 3 and Generation 2 that ESS SC kits have?

The gen 3 is the Vt based kits where i believe the gen 2 was an ASA blower.... which i actually loved! They also made some install cleanups etc, they have also added an optional RACE brace for the s/c and a large capacity oil cooler which they sell as a pack for track work as an additional extra, i have both. I adore this kit and the car together, to me this makes the car very very special and really brings the s54 to life.FD3S wrote: ↑Sat Jun 02, 2018 9:56 pm Thank you my friend for your quick reply. Not trying to pee on a parade!!
But just something i hope there is an easy answer too. But how does the flash for the ECU work? Obviously swapping hardware is easy. But would you need to buy the flash from ESS???

yes and its expensive. but if you get the kit really cheap or it needs refurb in some areas it still a win, also LOTs of different companies will tune it remotely, Evolve ( personally wouldnt use them for the z4 platform as they never seemed to get it quite right ) however ess wont even talk to you to offer any sort of troubleshooting if you go this route. Its definitely worth while sticking with them and their tunes are fantastic.Machine monkey wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 3:01 pm Not trying to pee on a parade!!

In that case and if they will sell you a flash it’s a no brainer!!Beedub wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:38 pmyes and its expensive. but if you get the kit really cheap or it needs refurb in some areas it still a win, also LOTs of different companies will tune it remotely, Evolve ( personally wouldnt use them for the z4 platform as they never seemed to get it quite right ) however ess wont even talk to you to offer any sort of troubleshooting if you go this route. Having done a bit of research on ECUs recently. The ms45 (3.0 z4 ecu) is very different and harder to map and to fiddle with the tables. I believe the z4m and m3 have similar issues. I also know that for around 1300 you can get a SCS delta fully programmable ecu witch is plug and play for the z4m. There was one parked up when i dropped my z4 off Sunday.
I had a chat with Matthew Payne yesterday. It seems the pin outs are different. And the way they work is different but the way they communicate over the can bus is identical. Which is good news.
FD3S it might sound like a lot of cash. But if your saving cash on the hardware. Buying the standalone would be a really good and smart upgrade. And future proof yourself for any future upgrades.

Interesting news regarding the SCS Delta on a Z4M, that would actually sway me towards a CSL airbox as I wouldn't have to run a crappy alpha-n map...
Also great for a supercharger conversion as could get the car live mapped in the UK without having to rely on a generic tune.

Xxaxa we will see. I am thinking of it seriously. If I go the SC way I need also coilovers and brakes lots of money But if I do it I will miss that sound of the CSL airbox for sure.

Wow that is a completely new world if that works. I don't know for sure but the Z4M ecu has different than the M3. Right? If that is right how this think can work with our ECU's?Machine monkey wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 11:39 amIn that case and if they will sell you a flash it’s a no brainer!!Beedub wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:38 pmyes and its expensive. but if you get the kit really cheap or it needs refurb in some areas it still a win, also LOTs of different companies will tune it remotely, Evolve ( personally wouldnt use them for the z4 platform as they never seemed to get it quite right ) however ess wont even talk to you to offer any sort of troubleshooting if you go this route.
