Easiest way of fuel disconnect?

Post by Argenta » Sun May 20, 2018 9:22 pm

Hi, is there an easy way to, shortly, disconnect fuel supply? (Or, ignition..?)

Car’s been standing for months & with newly changed oil/filter I’d just like to get some oil pressure up before actually starting.

I realize I may get a fault code but I just erase it later.

Pull the fuse to the fuel pump usually. Sounds a bit overkill mind ;)

Of course, thanx.
Well. I’m oldschool, and with the notoriously fragile S54 maybe just aswell.. :)

You won’t really build up any oil pressure just by turning it over anyway. Just start it....will be fine.

I beg to differ, you normally do. ;)
(unless the S54 half-dry sump in some way makes it work differently..)

Thanx alot for the advice (fuses) - worked a treat! :)

That's fine. I've got no problem with that. I could point you at a multitude of sources to assure you it isn't necessary but feel I'd be wasting my time. By the same token, pulling the fuse doesn't do any harm if you have the time and the inclination.

Right, I was answering your claim that you cannot build up oil pressure by turning the engine over by starter motor - you will/can.
(Great after engine rebuild/long standning periods etc).
The necessety is a different and debatable matter, however as I wrote, I’m extra causious with the tender S54. :)

I found this map of the fuses which shows the base Z4 I think, the F19 is empty on the Z4M. So I pulled F33.
Actually when you open the fuse box you’ll find a little map of the Z4M fuses, so you can’t go wrong.
