Selling to a specialist

the time may have arrived that I need to sell my MC, but I am not sure I want to run the gauntlet of tyre kickers, test drivers and wasted phone calls. So with this is mind does anyone have any 'specialist' they would recommend dealing with? I am based in West Yorkshire if that's makes any difference.

I know I will get less selling to a dealer, so I am only considering this option at the moment and depending on what they offer I may still sell it privately.

You have a low miles M coupe...

There is no better Z to maximise your money..

Set a price,advertise it and it will sell if all is good.

I have sold loads of Z4's and apart from the odd bell end Z4 buyers are a nice bunch...

Easy sale ahead.

No experience of them but I know that Russel from Knights Garage has bought and sold many of these cars.
Seems he's no longer in business though?

Shame to see you selling up Austin , a fantastic ZMC im sure anyone would love to own .
You need to make a few decisions first off though . are you up for advertising & dealing with potential buyers or would you prefer a simple straight sale ?
If you do decide to go privately then its difficult to add the full value of the aeros & eventuri etc ? So whilst they may add kudos & help gain a sale from a ££ you ae better off selling these separately
If you decide to go to a professional buyer then without doubt remove any choice bits you have & sell as a stock example that wants for nothing & has a very fetching set of 224s on

Probably not the perfect time right now but that could well change over the coming year , if i were in your shoes id try dangling it in front of a a few specialists such as http://www.scottjamesoflytham.co.uk/we-buy-cars
Costs you nothing & helps you build a current market value ( don't take the value of just one though )

Easy...look on Pistonheads / Autotrader for similar cars in price order (highest to lowest). Pick the top 3 being sold by dealers, phone them and ask the dealer what they would offer to buy your car. You have the benefit of seeing what they would sell them for so there is no hiding their margin. Makes for an honest conversation.

I can see the appeal of selling to a specialist, but personally I'd try posting on here first.

It costs nothing, you're not likely to get tyre-kickers or people who don't know much about them and forum members are much more likely to appreciate the mods.

I know it wasn't an M model, but selling my Z4C to a forum member was the most painless car-selling experience I've ever had.

If that doesn't get a response you've lost nothing and can still go the specialist route.

Selling through a Specialist Dealer is an easier route, due to the fact that they can offer Warranties and Finance. But you will lose out quite badly, on what you get as a Return, from the Sale of Your Car. The Dealers incurred cost's will be quite HIGH (preparation, servicing, etc,etc,etc!).

Personally, MY preferred route is to sell Privately. With your type of car, you would not get many tyre kickers, due to the price and type of car that it is.

You are in a specialised market, where people tend to know what they are looking for. Hence, a great example (right spec.and colour combination) would be snapped up at the right price.

Warranty/finance facilities are not important to the OP.

He’s not selling it “through” a dealer on sale or return...he’s considering selling it TO a specialist/dealer.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions and trust me its not an easy decision to sell up, but a house renovation running over is costing much more than expected and we have just confirmed I am to become a Dad!

I will be stripping the car of the Eventuri and OEM Strut brace, but the aeros will stay on.
I will create an advert for the car on the forum only and will approach some specialist (Thanks for the link Mr Wilks) , but I am still not planning on Pistonheads / Autotrader at this time.

Be patient and sell it privately, you’ll deffo get the most dollar that way as your car is a low mileage gem as is.

If you were to get another BMW you could try and part-ex it with a main dealer for a decent amount or sell it to someone like Munich Legends who gets these sorts of cars all the time.

I’d still vouch for the former however.
