That doesn't read as you have described it in my eyes.

All that says is regardless of miles, engine oil should be changed every 2 years, it doesn't say its ok to skip inspection services.
You're interpreting that in a very odd way - nobody was suggesting to skip inspection services.

The formal service schedule is performed solely on miles driven. So up to 15k miles between services (let's leave discussion of optimum service intervals for another day). This means that an inspection service should be done every 30k miles.

If however less than 15k miles are driven within a 2 year period then an oil change must be performed. Note that this is not an oil service, although most dealers will treat it as such. When this oil change is performed the service indicator must not be reset, as the service indicator is mileage based and this is not an oil service but rather an oil change.

This has turned into a what people think is the best service regime thread rather than what the OP asked which was what service is due. As far as warranty is concerned, BMW will agree with srhutch and pvr. There is no argument about that, it’s been well tested over the years and discussed to death too. If you want to follow oil service, Insp 1, oil service, Insp 2 and so on then there may well merit in that. It’s what I’ve done up to now in the 10 plus years and 60k miles I’ve owned mine. That may change now that I’ve bought a daily beater.

Mangozac has summed it up perfectly as I was typing this.
06 Z4MC, Sapphire black, Aero sideskirts, BMW strutbrace, CSL's, Remus back boxes, Intravee and Alpine DAB
