Tracker..

Post by bradz » Thu Feb 22, 2018 10:06 pm

My car was fitted with a Tracker from the factory.

"Tracker" have confimed it's no longer active so I would like to remove it, before I tear the entire car apart does anyone know where it's likely to be.

If anyone knows would they mind telling me in a pm as we obviously don't want to broadcast it on the interwebs.

Thankyou in advance.

Yeah that's one reason, - Also hate the idea that someone else could be tracking my car :headbang:

Thought about putting a trickle charger on it but that just masks the problem

There is no hard and fast rule as to where it’s fitted or it would kind of defeat the object.
One fitter would put it in the same place on a Zed every time but a fitter from a different dealership or one of trackers own fitters would fit it somewhere completely different, it’s down to the individual.

They only have 3 wires coming from them, live earth and an aerial, it will be mounted behind a panel that is usually screwed or clipped in, not behind a loose bit of carpet.

I actually used to work as dealer support for a tracking company.

There was a particular jap car that came with them fitted from the factory all in the same location, they used to rip them out before stealing them

Mine was under the front pass carpet, they cut a piece of insulation from back of carpet to make room.

If the battery from the tracker has not been replaced it is most likely dead. You can also call tracker and ask them.

Mine's still working - as I get calls from tracker whenever it's on the back of a recovery truck

I thought the internal battery was about 7 years before it would be dead. Perhaps yours has been mangled so often they replaced it

Or maybe they’r e got an AI calling me at random intervals to make me think it’s still working.

My guess is that the constant use has kept the battery conditioned better than most.

I guess is it also paid off to go for the lifetime subscription instead of the annual one
