Replace CD changer with storage?

Post by Phil-E30 » Tue Jan 30, 2018 11:40 am

Hi everyone,

Think I've finally given up on replacing my broken CD changer in the Z4MC, after being sold two faulty units... :headbang:

I've already fitted an AUX to the car, so don't really need anything additional. Is there anything that goes in place of the CD changer unit in the Z4MC? A cubby hole or something?

Thanks

Hi Phil, I have 2 cubbies in mine. Part number for the middle is 51467043819, the lower 51467043818.
They have 818 in stock here, not sure if it works out cheaper from bmw once you include postage on this price http://www.bmminiparts.com/DiagramView.aspx?DiagramId=276525&MOSP=49422

Made me laugh, then I saw you live in Liverpool so these are common adaptations.

I didn’t think cigar humidors were a Scouse stereotype :P

I have on of those cubby holes in the garage, think it might be the middle on though for the nav drive.

I had looked into the beer fridge, humidor and gun cabinet options. I opted for something more....boring.

My nav is still in place and working, so I just need something to replace the CD changer unit. Did you guys just tape up the changer wires etc?

Why not hook this in place of the CD changer to give you one more music option => http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=875077&highlight=grom

I like this a lot because I don't have to connect up the AUX port all the time. I don't remember the last time I used my AUX port with the GROM installed.

Just tape the wires to the floor. It’s how they come from the factory when changer not fitted.

I have my intravee and alpine unit fitted where the changer was and make a blanking plate from a film dvd case. It’s just big enough, and colour match is fine to. If you are not worried about a cubby hole then it’s a suitable alternative.
