Not unusual. They'll sit on it and wait for spring to arrive an sell it to someone looking for open-top motoring fun. As owners we should be applauding them for taking on the Z4 as a car to champion, not bitching about a scratch or lack of sat nav.....forums are weird sometimes. :tumbleweed:

Some might recall that they single-handedly changed the Z8 market in the UK, buying up all the examples they could find and then set upon increasing the value when each one sold with increments of £10-15k...I remember seeing one for £70k in their showroom in 2006 and now that car is £250k. Nice work.
I have heard that their after-sales service is second to none, and to their target market that is worth a lot of money. Not sure how true that is though.

Yep, if you've been to the garage in Highgate then you'll realise that £5k-£10k over list to the people who live in that part of London isn't really the driver on the car purchase.

The thought of coming out of town to visit a dealer in poverty street towns would make them shudder....

I explained this 'cartelism' of Hexagon , in some details, years ago on PH. Someone from there came on and had a right go at me about it and making it 'public'. The Z8 was the prime model that the did it with but they've done it with others. And they are not the people who do it.

The thing is not to fall into their trap and get swept along. I've had things like E30 M3, E46 CSL and then sold them after I've had my time with them at 'roughly' what I bought them for. Tell me...why would a CSL, for example and which at the time I struggled to sell, suddenly be worth double a year or two later? Has it become a better car 2 years later? No. Has it become an appreciably rarer car 2 years later? No.

So it's all blatant manipulation and Hexagon make a living off that just like De Beers have made a long and handsome living off the enduring pretence that diamonds are rare. Diamonds are NOT rare. De Beers just makes them rare.

The price is not so bad if you view it as one of the lowest mileage cars available and what is a future classic in the best colour. It will appeal to someone who wants to put the car in storage and drive very few miles with it on the basis that if the prices rise fast for Z4M, then this will be a car that will sell very well with ultra low mileage.

To the average buyer that is not looking for an ultra low mileage car, it will appear expensive.

This is a possible car for the speculator, and I suspect Hexagon will get what they want for it.

I think the lack of Nav is a bonus. This was outdated/poor (lack of post code search) the day it was released and it ages the car interior. Better not to have it for a car that will become a classic. Certainly a lack of Nav now does not affect the resale price.

if the condition is not that good then of course it wouldn't sell, but I'd be amazed if Hexagon put a car up for sale at that price without it being in good condition.

Good analogy to the diamond market, it's amazing to think that in today's age the public are still duped into thinking that spending £10k on a ring that cost the seller £500 is an essential purchase!

Anyone ever driven a Z8...?

It's an interesting technique. I do wonder though what the ceiling is for this sort of car, given they are not that rare (unlike the Z8). I just get the feeling that the Z4M was not limited in numbers enough to ever reach over 30k in a similar way that I don't believe the E46 M3 will ever get much over £20k. This makes it a little questionable as an investment proposition at that sort of money given the costs of storing and insuring etc.

I may be completely wrong of course and they will be all swapping hands for £50k in 5 yrs time!

1400 UK models of M Coupe and Roadster combined makes them pretty rare, compared to something like a TTRS, SLK55, Cayman or Boxster S. How often do you see an M on the roads? Compared to the Z8 I do agree they are more common though. :)

I see a few more than that down here, but they are by no means common.
