Hi thanks I nearly bought a 3.2s last month , 45k miles £16995 but pulled out at the last minute as the dealer would only offer a 3 month warranty , the car had bills totalling over 16k in the last 3 years after having engine work done and ims bearing , they do seem to be very expensive to maintain .
I have budgeted for a 5k un expected budget but , reliability with the Z4M seems fairly bullet proof , I think that I was unlucky with the E89 3.0 sdrive that I bought & certainly wouldnt rule another out although it didnt really handle like a sports car .

If you saw an MC (your 3.2s) at £16995 for 45k miles you really should have been snapping that up....especially if it had £16k worth of work done to it (unless it was in an accident of course). That's a £20k+ car all day long....

I think he's talking about a boxster/cayman 3.2s
Though surely at that price it should be one of the newer 3.4? That said I know nothing about that market :D

People who know a little about the boxster/cayman/911s know that they need regular maintenance to reduce big bills but 90% dont. So there are a lot of cars available with huge price discrepancies, mostly because of back garage cheap servicing. You can get 3.2s for as little as 8k but it wont be an economical car the cost to sort would be more than its worth in the current climate. The reason the above is that sort of money is because its sorted with the kind of expenditure. I would be wary of 3.4s too at that sort of price.

After my experience I would be very careful with anything under a 2009 gen 2. There are good cars, but they arent cheap making them in my mind a little pointless because the 3.2 doesnt even break 300hp and felt super underpowered compared to the Z4M. Even the 3.4s dont feel fast but you cant put a foot wrong in them makes you feel either like a super hero driver or very bored.

Get these things checked out the £200 inspections with bore tests and over revving are absolutely invaluable.

As TomK already pointed out the 3.2s 45k car mentioned for £16995 was a Porsche not a ZMC
