BMW z4m coupe 2007 what is it worth ?
Local BMW dealer has just got a 2007 Z4M Coupe 70000 miles part service history , what is it worth ?
I am the first person to see as it hasn't been prepared yet , I am not sure it will get a full BMW warranty as the service history has two stamps from none franchised dealers . Car is blue with beige heated leather , no satnav .

15k without service history I'd say. Doesn't sound like a car I'd be looking at.

I'm guessing you mean full service history but two of them are from local garages or specialists? If so and the condition including tyres, brakes and Insp.2 are up to scratch then I'd say £17 to £18k. It's almost like you are buying a private car.

Not sure about car price but regarding warranty, I think non bmw dealers/traders would give you at least 3months warranty, before offering you a warranty at cost (possibly limited), but something to negotiate/haggle with?
Will it be sold under the approved used banner, in which case it should come with 1yr warranty (i think)

I agree with Dave as above and quoted. You will know already that some specialists are better than the dealers for servicing - but it depends on the specialist I suppose. Usual haggle and see how the deal looks after that.Fishy Dave wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2018 5:38 pmI'm guessing you mean full service history but two of them are from local garages or specialists? Advertised at 21,450 which sounds fair enough from a dealer.

BMW z4m coupe 2007 what is it worth ?
Hi yes full service up to date with a clean bill of health from the main dealer that is selling the car & has just done a full service , I am a bit lost when buying from main dealers as I bought the Z4 3.0 sdrive from on in October last year and gave them it back in November as the faults hadnt been fixed , the full service hadnt been done & it had a knackered diff , it was also drinking oil at a rate of half a litre every 300 miles so obviously thought it was best to get my money back .
I like the look of the coupe & the way the values are going up but dont want to buy at the top end to loose a load if ever have to sell , I was thinking about 14k , it would have been worth what they were asking with 45k & full BMW history but the lack of it & higher mileage is a bit of a turn off .
Any Z4Ms going up for sale on here ? or should I go the safe route back to a 3.0 E89 or 3.5is ?
I loved the open roof in the E89 is it worth going Z4M convertible ?

Main dealer warranty is great, I wouldn’t put any value on a “clean bill of health” from a Main Dealer though... they don’t do anything in prep aside from a wash and rely on you to identify stuff as part of the haggling. They’ll knock you down on your trade in price and pick fault with your car, then not do anything with those faults and it’s up to the next buyer to spot them and negotiate as part of their deal. All about getting the biggest margins possible and I’ve lost all faith in them now!arl10 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2018 9:37 pmHi yes full service up to date with a clean bill of health from the main dealer that is selling the car & has just done a full service , I am a bit lost when buying from main dealers as I bought the Z4 3.0 sdrive from on in October last year and gave them it back in November as the faults hadnt been fixed , the full service hadnt been done & it had a knackered diff , it was also drinking oil at a rate of half a litre every 300 miles so obviously thought it was best to get my money back .

What’s your budget for a Z4M Coupe? There are a couple for sale on AT and Pistonheads, a few that have hung around a long time but still some good ones available.

If its at a BMW dealer all services should be recognised and shouldn't change what warranty they will give you.
If it is a used approved you will get a full year anything goes BMW warranty with it. 90% of cars have some sort of non BMW service and it is super difficult to find a FBMWSH example.
To aid in sales they give away 2 year warranties with ease so push and you will be worry free.
In terms of a Porsche, currently you wont find a huge worth considering that wont cost money to sort for £17k. All the Porsche in that bracket all have the engine issues and you wont really get into a good gen II for under £23k (boxster) the M is much more reliable and a much more modern car than any 911 in your bracket and the likelyhood of a 17k boxster or cayman being under 10 years old is unlikely and they need a lot more looking after. They are essentially 90% 911 so need looking after in a similar way and most havent been.
At that age most cars will need the condensers replacing as they are most likely leaking from rot they have a lifespan of around 6 years even if looked after correctly, easy way to tell is if the aircon isnt ice cold. To clean them properly Porsche advise bumper removal... how many people you think do this... None. I would have any car inspected make sure the RMS isnt leaking and there is no bore scoring. There is also IMS worries too.
I bought a 65k 2005 boxster S from a "Porsche specialist" for a cheap weekender thinking it was a solid choice. Smallest engine least likely to go wrong, within a week it was knocking. Took it in turned out it had bore scoring and piston slap, RMS had gone and leaked oil on the clutch so new RMS clutch and flywheel. The Condensers were knackered which I knew about and it needed some rear brakes but all of the above and the engine needed rebuilding total cost was £11750. Thankfully managed to take it back to the dealer under buyer protection but I was super lucky but also probably unlucky with the amount wrong. Unfortunately none of those symptoms can be seen unless you get it up on a ramp remove the undertray and have a camera put down the bore.
Unless you have decent money to buy a really good pampered example then I would skip the Porsche. I am the biggest porsche advocate but cheap ones dont exist as they are the in thing atm and finding good ones is really difficult the price varies hugely you could have two cars similar spec and mileage and find the price differs 5-10k because one is sorted and one needs work. Try not to get burned like I nearly did.
The worst at the age the Z4Ms is about £1500 for bearings, engine mounts and engine bolts but with a BMW warranty you will be covered for all the above.

At £21k that seems about right from a dealer with a year's warranty. I guess whatever 10-year-old sports car you buy you're likely to run a pretty high degree of subsequent cost....nothing is bulletproof.
