Euro Car Parts Pagid discs

Post by Adz4 » Wed Dec 20, 2017 5:42 pm

Hi All, haven't posted on here for a few years maybe more. Last time I posted on here I was an owner of Z4 3.0 now I own a Z4M roadster. Good to be back, forgot I even had a login.

So, I'm thinking of replacing my front disks and was wondering if Pagid euro car parts ones are recommended? Or would you go with the ones from BMW. I've heard they are the same and plus euro car parts have 50% sale/discount code for brake disks. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. :)

cheers!

£253 from my dealer. I've said it before, I can not understand why people mess around with ecp and these other places for bmw parts, unless you like paying more and not having a 2 year warranty.

Is that price for a single front disc or a pair?

Pagid, Textar and Mintex are all part of TMD who make the original kit for BMW and other premium car manufacturers.

In any case any pad or disc sold in the Uk for road use must comply with ECE Reg 90 which means it has to perform within 15% of the original. i.e it can't be more than 15% worse or better in any given test (cold braking, hot braking, fade etc) since all friction properties are a trade off (better fade resistance = worse initial bit/cold braking) it depends what you want.

So there is a lot of BS marketing about brakes and if your pads/discs don't comply with ECE90 they should fail MOT, are an unroadworthy mod' potentially affecting insurance and your position in the even of a tragic prang. As long as it's genuine ECE90 marked for UK road use and from a reputable maker you can't tell the difference. I went Textar as they make the stuff for BMW and were cheaper.

I dont think anyone's questioning the suitability of a pagid or whatever disk, the point is why would you pay more for that than the oem item from bmw? Particulary when you bear in mind that if you buy a bmw part from bmw and fit it yourself and it fails they will replace and fit the part themselves for free for 2 years.

Looks like a fair point concerning ///M discs for sure :hattip:

Textar/Pagid discs for my non ///M application were far, far cheaper than BMW parts, I'll bug out of the M thread

Thank you all, the car has been parked up for the winter, but took it to the garage today and the pads still have a bit of life. So will sort it ready for Spring/Summer.

I didn't realise you get OEM ones so cheap. Obvs I'll be going for OEM! Which BMW can I apply the above discount to?
