So I finally got the SS mid section fitted. Results: mixed.

Positives, the sound of the exhaust has changed a lot. It is a higher tone than before and I actually like it more now. When up to the red line it sounds more racy than ever. Any drone that there was around the lower rev ranges has gone, which I wasn't expecting, but I guess this is due to the pitch increase, it was quite deep before. Past 4k to the red line it feels really fast, how much is real vs perceived I don't know.

The EML has not come on yet, not sure if it will.

Negatives: There is now a hesitation around the 3-4k mark. If I'm in third gear around 3k rpm and be aggressive with the throttle I can feel a pause and backing off some what, then once up to 4k it screams round perfectly.

History: The car was mapped after the Schrick cams and eventuri were fitted and was perfect, throttle response, heel and toe no issues and no hesitation.

I assume there is no "auto adjustment" that will take place in the ecu, so I am going to contact Imran and see if he can tweak their custom map to remove the hesitation. I am not entirely surprised it is needed as the flow rates / pressures etc must be different without the cats, hope it will be fairly simple.

Not sure if this situation applies to others but it's here for future reference.

I'm currently waiting for my SS Powerloop boxes to arrive, The X pipe arrived last week, I'm currently toying with the decat section..

When you say mid section do you just mean the cat section?

The e46 boys all recommend a remap due to a flat-spot low down, I have no doubt Imran will be able to tweek it for you :driving:

Sorry yes I have the OEM X-pipe. SS decat section and Stromung back boxes. I wonder in hindsight if I should have just committed to one full SS system end to end rather than changing bits along the way but it's a bit late now lol.

I wasn't aware that the flat spot was normal so thanks for the heads up.

Be interested how you find your setup once it's all installed.

reset the adaptations via laptop if you have the software, i think this will disappear once done.

Yeah , Epic also said a re-tune is not required when I fitted mine. Just do a reset as Bee has suggested.

Thing is s54 loves a bit of back pressure and also the ecu doesn't know there's no catts
Mine felt awful pulling away and wondered what I'd done
Got a remap and engine knows now and far better :)

Hey dude thanks for this info.
Mine is not running a stock map its running a custom map from Evolve and prior to removal of the cats it was perfect through all revs. I believe the EML light is already coded out for missing cats as I have no light, Evolve add and remove various thing in their maps.
I have had an email from Imran saying that removal of cats on my setup will result in the flat spot around 3k and there is nothing in the tuning that can be done to remove it. :headbang:
Now I don't quite understand why that is, I have read of other ppl who have had a cat removal and remap on an s54 and appear to have removed or greatly improved this. I know I am running higher spec cams than stock but only a relatively minor upgrade (CSL spec).

So at the moment I am stumped as to what to do.

Ah I think I understand what your saying Vanne - I just realised the "adaptations" you are talking about are for throttle. I do not have INPA working at the moment but I do have a C110+ BMW tool. Maybe I can use that to reset them. I'll have a quick google.

no inpa required for throttle reset mate, its just a few functions on the pedal/ignition. Ill chase it up for you later.

Just so you know Phill, no flat spots here mate, same section 1 as you i think. If anything, just a little more angry through the whole response. Definitely sounds more ratty.. (or racey if thats what your terminology is), BUT Phil DEF NO flat spots here mate.. ill do a pull or 2 on vid if you require that, but def no flat spots in my rev range mate. :? and your spot on mate as with your tune, any non stock tune would turn off EML for no cats, even if you don't have de-cat.

no, the throttle reset and addaptions are different..... the one im talking about requires the software on the laptop to reset.. throttle reset isnt going to help solve this issue

Update: We reset the adaptations this morning using autologic all reset options 1,2 and 3. It said it had managed to reset them. However the 3k hesitation is still present. :headbang:
Next step is to try the BMW machine at my local Indy and see if that will do anything else.
Failing that I'll start looking at remap options.
