E85 2003 Xenon N/S Headlight Unit

Post by D4rcy » Tue Sep 10, 2019 7:31 pm

Looking for a good condition headlight unit for a 2003 E85, with the Xenon option.

Black internals with orange indicator blade.

Am a newbie, so I’m not sure of part numbers here.

New or EBay prices are insane, so if anyone has a compatible for sale unit then please let me know.

Many Thanks

Good luck; replacement xenons for the E85 are like hens teeth hence the astronomical prices. Best to keep an eye on the likes of ebay, gumtree, FBMarketplace etc.

I recently paid £180 for a Pre-facelift Xenon passenger side one (which included £30 european delivery) as a guide to prices.

That was lucky then, they are usually twice that price if you can find one at all.

Thanks for the tips.

Ill keep on looking. Have seen one on EBay for around to £900, which is more than BMW if they even have one.

Supply and demand i guess. The search continues :D

FWIW I will be selling my custom ones soon - next couple of weeks, although I would be selling only, since I don't need to swap. Would be selling as a pair too though - especially since they're custom

Thank you for the response - They do look good on your car.
A couple of newbie questions:
1) Are they a straight swap out unit for a home mechanic.
2) Do they suffer with the same condensation issues as the originals.
3) Any electrical wiring changes.
4) the obvious one - How much £££ for the pair

:D

1) Mostly yes - there's a DRL Relay that comes with them that you wire to battery +ve & -ve but it's fairly straight forward and easy enough
2) Kind of - I do plan to use a headlight polisher kit on them though before I sell them, I'm not entirely sure if the the lens blemishes are external only
3) No. They're a straight swap plug wise... and then the aforementioned DRL Relay (The main purpose of the relay thing is for "follow me home lights" -- keeps the angel eyes on for another 90 seconds after turning the car off). You *may* need to code out voltage checks - depends if they flicker or not (This can depend on year from memory)
4) I have no idea yet - I need to evaluate condition etc, probably around the £450 mark for the pair since they're a) Xenons and b) Custom

I'll update in a week or so though :)
