BMW Performance 6-Pot BBK
Hello all,
I had been planning to keep these brakes, having removed them from my Coupe prior to sale, but with the house purchase currently ongoing, the money tied up in them will be better put elsewhere.
Thus regretfully my BMW Performance Big Brake Kit is up for sale. This is currently a bolt-on modification for the non-M cars – however could easily be made to fit the E46 M3 or Z4M hubs with different adapters you can source from Ebay (BradZ is running them on his Z4MC).
(Also note if not running aftermarket wheels you will need spacers to fit the alloys over these brakes).
Included in the kit is the following;
1. (Brembo) BMW Performance 6-Piston Calipers, recently repainted in Gold (end-2017). There are some minor chips in the gold paint (see photos) but they still clean up very well.
2. Caliper adapters to fit Z4 non-M hubs.
3. Goodridge Braided Brake Lines (the length of these makes them compatible with either E46M3/Z4M/Z4non-M platforms)
4. Used Z4M/M3 CSL Front Discs with plenty of life left in them.
5. Nearly Brand New Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads – approx.. 500 road miles done on them, never tracked. These were just shy of £200 new.
6. Brand New Pad Anti-rattle clips - still in BMW wrapper.
The kit is in perfect working order, having been removed from my car prior to sale in August of this year. They have been kept in dry storage in my conservatory since.
For those unfamiliar, this BBK Kit cuts a very good balance between ultimate braking performance on track, and useability on the road. It is a more road-friendly design than some aftermarket brake kits, partly because the pistons do have dust boots, which prevent corrosion of the pistons as the pad gets toward the end of its life.
The CSL discs, additional pad size and the DS2500 compound work to deliver all the stopping power you would need on the road, and in most casual track applications; I’m gutted to have to let them go but needs must with the house and with a new weekend toy some way in the distance still.
Apologies in advance that they are not the cleanest in the photos - due to them being sat now, I do not want to properly clean them up as it will just invite moisture where it doesn't belong!
I’m asking for NOW SOLD for the kit as it is – due to weight this price is based on collection only from Godalming or Frimley, however I’d be happy to drive to meet a buyer within reason if this helped.
I also have some 10mm spacers and longer wheel bolts which gave the necessary clearance for 224Ms on my 3.0si – available by separate negotiation as these will obviously only be suitable for some.
Hoping these will go to a good home on the forum. Go on – treat yourselves/your car to an early Christmas present, and make my wife happy at the same time
Any questions feel free to drop me a PM
Thanks for reading
Ed

These don’t come up very often (especially with the non-M adapters). GLWTS Ed and congrats in advance, somebody.

Thanks bud In my head I'd seen myself putting these on a nice M Coupe, but right now it's not gonna work which is rather gutting
Without making it harder for you - I'll be in Coventry at some point around mid-December; if you wanted I could bring them up and meet you half way between Cov & Wolverhampton

Definately food for thought mate.... one question, did you need to use spacers for the 224's to fit over these?. They obviously fit under 18's, how much clearance did you have around the edge of the rim?

Hi mate - Deffos needed a minimum of 5mm spacers to clear the front face of the caliper away from the inside face of the alloy spokes on 224's. I went for 10mm spacers in the end - added bonus of more front end grip and nicer stance! I can't recall the clearance to the edge of the rim but it was plenty - these are standard on the original 135i coupes which came on 18s, and the csl discs are obviously standard fit on the z4m anywaysilverdevill wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 9:49 pm Definately food for thought mate.... one question, did you need to use spacers for the 224's to fit over these?. Hi Sean,
I'll do my best to dig out some photos but didn't get many brake close ups when the car was clean sorry!
Being in the throes of moving house I'm struggling for time to clean them off, and am mindful of avoiding corrosion with cleaning products when the brakes are not in use fairly swiftly after being cleaned - is there anything specific I can take photos of to help?
Thanks

Do these pictures help?
5mm spacer fitted with 224s (Same on Z4 & Z4M)
No spacer required with comps (18") when I had them fitted to my previous Si.
