I understand that any negotiations, questions or offers should be made via the forum replies for all to see until a deal has been agreed, then moved to PM.

Would have been nice for the moderators to confirm this the last time I tried to buy something through the forum. Not only was I the first to reply, I was also cut out of the deal due to someone agreeing a deal via PM. Moderators didn't seem to care much in that instance...

The mods are not glued to their computer screens all day, they have normal lives & do this job on a voluntary basis

Rally was wrong to do that, but as mentioned above we can't be everywhere all the time. Mostly we rely upon forum members highlighting a problem. Sales threads going straight to PMs is an ongoing problem that causes frustration (as you can attest to) because deals are made behind closed doors. Mods are aware of this issue.

Given the sellers post count I doubt anyone will hear from them again? Roof has probably been sold now and the seller has done runner leaving these little squabbles..

Perhaps there needs to be a better way of handling sales? Is there a way of blocking pm's on sales threads until both parties have publicly agreed a deal?

Just to confirm - my PM never received a response from the seller, and no deal was ever done with me. I agree that there should be a better way of dealing with the B&S section. Looking at the vast majority of items previously sold it looks to me like a high percentage sold without negotiations being transparent. Other than on this ad it appears that the moderators haven't noticed, or perhaps just haven't acted. It also seems like forum members with a low amount of posts take the brunt of negative comments. Personally I use the forum as a resource, from which I have been able to obtain a great deal of useful information. I don't feel I have a high level of knowledge regarding Z4's or Z4 related issues to give much contribution to others, and as such seldomly post on the forum. In my opinion this doesn't mean I, nor other non-frequent posters should be treated any different from other forum members.

Don't take it all so personally MBZ4,, I think the reason they flagged the pm`s is more because of what was for sale, a hard top generates interest, there are always people on the look out for them, so they are more likely to point out the forum rules as more people will be interested, I for one don't think for one moment they highlighted you pm,ing because of your post count, as far as I see, everyone is treated equally, the fact they missed one from the B&S section which you were involved with, was just irony
Z4 Mineral Grey, 28i MSport Auto, lots of goodies
Z4 E85 3.0, gone but now with son :D

If you look at the op profile you will see he was last active when he made the for sale post so if he has sold it its not been on this forum.. so perhaps we should chill out a bit?

Yes it's still for sale, as is my car. I just haven't got round to taking pics of it. Will try next week.
I'm located in Rutland. It has the covers and Allen key. No cover/stand
