Steering Wheel Switches - Silver

Post by idej_z4 » Wed Aug 08, 2018 6:38 pm

I have two steering wheel switches and front facias for sale in good condition (I’ve never actually looked at the condition of others...).

There are some small marks as you would expect.

They do fit on the thicker Z wheel as that’s what I had them on in my Z. Modifying the bottom section to fit the fatter wheel was the interesting part!

There is one tiny bit of plastic that has broken but doesn’t at all affect fitment as they’re screwed in anyway. I’ve photographed it to show though.

Price is a tough one as I’ve seen just the switches for sale on eBay preowned for nearly £100 each! Even though a set of these coming up is rare I want to be fair so was thinking £80 for the set?

Tip - if you do buy these and want to swap yours out make sure you turn your steering wheel 90 degrees to get access to the screws at the bag. I really alised this after I had disconnected the battery and taken the air bag off! :headbang:

I'm interested... I have a non switch steering wheel... Will they just go straight on or do I need more stuff to fit them?

You’ll need quite a fair bit. Each of the facias have a back plate which you need. You’ll also need The RH side wires (I have a spare left one).

These are the two backing facias you’ll need:

OK - I can't find a definitive guide anywhere if it were a straight swap I'd be up for it, but I think there is too much that can go wrong and I'm not generally lucky!... Sadly I am going to have to pass... Thanks!

No worries - I think they would be better suited for someone who already has the trim but wants some in better condition than their own.

My son was looking to refurb his, I will ask him tonight, if he would rather go down this route,

Do you need to take the airbag out to fit them?

It is easier to do without the airbag on. First time I swapped them I did it without removing the airbag. Removing the airbag is an easy job. Disconnect battery, screwdriver down the side of the steering wheel and just push the clip off - do that both sides. Took me 10mins to do first time I tried.

I have a black sports wheel with the silver trim (not multi function) so if someone was looking for a complete wheel they could make one :)
