That’s interesting - I didn’t know that! So not a straight swap then!? :(

Do the dials separate from the board? (Eg can the front be swapped)
The front and back housings unclip, then you need to carefully remove the pre facelift circuit board from your existing controls and fit it with the facelift housings.

I messed my first lot up when removing the circuit board and had to buy another pre facelift heater control. Fortunately they aren't too expensive.

Need to swap the front with the controls over to the old panel, otherwise the hrw, ac and fan won't work properly.

I thought I used my pre facelift housing with the facelift circuit board, but I could be wrong. I ended up changing things about 20 times before I could get it to work correctly

The pcb's are different, as is the connector pinout. So the new pcb can't work correctly in the older cars.

I put post facelift heater controls in a pre facelift. Mate of mine was updating his 54 plate silver grey plastics as he preferred the black stuff in mine. He bought a job lot of black plastics bits including heater controls and radio from an 07 plate at a breakers. Well all the bits were date code 07 anyway. I did think at the time we may have issues with the radio and the heater etc... but it was all just plug and play.

It sounds like there may well be differences between different ages of pre facelift so, with post heaters working in later pre cars. Doesn't make a lot of sense though.
