Time to get measuring for a 3D model from scratch, not just a scan of the BMW ones. Once I have finished and tested it I will upload and share with the forum.
I was watching them too - just for curiosity though (I didn't even bid). I'm on the side of the fence that think these are a bit pointless - I feel like they'd be more of a nuisance to me... I mean, I live in Cambridge. The weather's moderate at the best of times and I don't have a Garage (well, I do, but it's full of other stuff) so it's parked on the drive way - It's not like I live in the Sahara or somewhere hot enough to warrant a) leaving the roof down almost constantly or b) can park it undercover with the roof down ... and someone (I think thanatu55) pointed out you only have to forget for a second, start closing the roof and off the ping or even break... That's Exactly the sort of thing I'd do

However, I do think a 3D Printable Model would benefit many. @markalp not sure how much help I can be - but I'm happy to help where I can (I don't own a set although thanatu55 has very kindly offered to loan me his (I think lol) )

Thanks for the offer of help, I think it would be easier to just do the measurments and take it from there, learnt many years ago never be a borrower, or lender lol

Would really like a set of these for occasional show but £200+ is just crazy!
Must be somewhere that can manufacture copies on a group buy!

Yes I suppose you could say the fixing which is part of the side covers
is a separate component
I could help with a template but looking at the curves etc the 3D printer options
looks better

it is a separate component but cannot be separated without braking them, that's why so many people hate them as if you forget they are on and put your roof up they can break. I was in contact with a guy in Germany who was making the under part of the mechanism as this is the part that must shatter when you forget. Picture taken from someone's old post if you recognise the carpet :D
