Bought from Ranski around 2-3 years ago, see here: link, now that my zed (and hardtop) has moved on, I'm selling the roof hoist. £200 collected.

No Problem Rich - we'll arrange to meet partway if that helps? I think it would fit in the passenger seat, although I used the Volvo when I picked it up.. let me check for measurements to make sure and post them tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Ranski has had to pull out, so this is back for sale.

I'm curious and possibly this should be in the discussion section but my message provides a bump and a potential sale.....

Is the hoist designed as a "one-man" operation for getting it on and off the car or just for storage up and away from the car? If the former, could someone describe the steps they use to do so. My main reason for asking is because I'm unsure how the hooks are placed and removed from under the roof when it's on the car?

Cheers

Pretty sure this is just a storage mechanism

Nope, its more than just storage. I have used it to remove and install the roof on my own on a number of occasions - as have others who have this kit.

Initially you need to release the roof securing bolts at the sides and at the front. This allows you to raise the roof off the car body (the same as if you had two people). There are two brackets that fit under the rear of the roof, one on either side. Whilst they have a felt cover, I find that its better to put a towel across the back, in case of slippage when moving the roof.

Second step is to fit the bar that connects across the two holding brackets and tightens with thumb-bolts

The next step is to fit the bar that connects from the front of the roof (you have to raise the roof slightly to get the holding bracket under the front of the roof) to the back bar - again secured through thumb-bolts

Finally, the carabiner clips secure to the top bar and you gently raise the roof up.

First couple of times it took me around 15-20 minutes to go through (double checking to ensure there were no scratches), but usually it takes about 10 minutes.

Just to add, I also have the roof hoist booklet that runs through the installation - its important to install the hoist so its correctly positioned above the centre of the car to avoid the roof "swinging" when you lift it up.

Sure - emailed a scanned copy. The main pages are in German but show the diagrams, the final page is the english translation.
