Re: The Image Thread 2015
Shot these for United Utilities.
All of Thirlmere Reservoir. Thirlmere is a reservoir is in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria. It runs roughly south to north, with a dam at the northern end.
Thirlmere was constructed in the 19th century by the Manchester Corporation. It took four years to build the reservoir between 1890-94 to provide the burgeoning industrial city of Manchester with water supplies. It also has a 96 mile aqueduct built between 1890-1925 still provides water to the Manchester area. It uses gravity to get to Manchester no pumps! Amazing!
All shot with 5DMKIII and 24-105mm with a 10 stop ND between 110-203 seconds.

Excellent shots Tom, especially like the last one.
I was in the Lake District last weekend, my photos are still on the camera.........hoping there's some decent ones on there.
My old EOS400 is a bit past its best and TBH, a bit old hat! A new CSC is calling, perhaps a Fuji.
Cheers

Re: The Image Thread 2015
Heres something a little different Perseids meteor shower last night.
The Perseids - which are pieces of Comet Swift-Tuttle - are active each year from around 17 July to 24 August, although for most of that period only a few meteors an hour are visible.
The peak came last night on (Wednesday 12th August 15) with more than 100 meteors an hour produced.
I climbed up Hallin Fell, at about 11pm to get away from the lights and this was my best image. Even caught a bit of the Milky Way!

It was absolutely stunning to watch, but they come and go in the blink of an eye. Did anyone else stay up to watch?

Bee sipping honey and water by Tom Scott, on Flickr
With Bee populations ever declining in the UK its really important to do your bit and help them on their way. We found this bee very lethargic on the floor, looking sorry for itself. So We put a little honey in a cup and added some water then put a little on the floor and the bee seemed to love it! Sticking its long tongue out, a few minutes later it flew off!

The Aviva Tour of Britain came through Penrith on its way to the finish at Alston.
People lined the streets as the Tour of Britain cyclist came through Penrith in flying fashion! Here are a few pictures as they came down King Street.
